Ice maker not working

I've had problems with my GE fridge, almost from day one. The water dispenser is always freezing up, the inside lights stay on & heat up the fridge, and now the ice maker just quit. I unplugged it and let it thaw out overnight, hoping that my water line might flow once again. It appears that something more is wrong, i'm not getting any water into my icemaker, any suggestions? Can that water filter prevent my icemaker from getting water?

Upon defrosting, the water dispensor started working again, for i knew the line to be frozen. No icemaker still.

    Thanks,

My fridge is dispensing water like normal, so I'm assuming there isn't any problem with the water line, but it is not making ice...any suggestions?

i have water that is in the icemaker. i think there was a backup in the ice bin somehow and a big block of ice formed around the unit. got the block of ice off and used the blow dryer to melt out the ice in the bins. i don't know what to do now. i have the power off to the icemaker but not certain what my next step is. i don't know if the actual motor to the icemaker is working other than the power light is on.

I have a GSS25J and have had the poblem with the ice forming around the ice maker unit for almost three years. Normally once we clean the ice off and reset the ice maker it works fine until the ice builds back up but not the lights on, no ice is forming around the unit and no ice cubes are being ejected into the box either, the water function works fine. If the motor still works what is not working?

I have problem with PSS26NGSBB GE Profile refrigerator and the ice maker and water features just stopped working. A new filter doesn't solve the problem. When the light touch paddle is touched to dispense, the dispenser light dims and nothing happens. The check filter selector is red when pushed.

So your not getting water from the dispenser either??? Yes the water filter can be the source of your problem. Let me know if the water is coming from the dispenser.

GE Fridge water dispenser working but not the ice

Yes you most likely have a defective dual water control valve. Look around the inside of the refrigerator for a model number.
Click here=> For most locationsSide-By-Side
  • Top Freezer
  • Bottom Freezer
Once you find the model number I will be able to tell you what part number the dual dual water control valve is or if your ice maker assist you in testing ice maker. If ice Maker is empty try filling with tap water to top edges of ice maker, allow water to freeze and if the ice drops into the ice bin but does not refill with water automatically I would say that the dual water control valve will need replaced. If your ice maker has old shrinking ice from a few days ago it will point to an ice maker problem.

I have a ge side by side both the freezer and fridge will not cool off, we hear the fan but nothing happening

    Hi,
Follow the steps mentioned below to solve the problem:
First remove the ice bin and look inside the mold of the ice maker to see if it is full of ice. If the ice sensing arm is down ( on position) and the ice maker is full of ice, there is a failure inside the ice maker and the ice maker should be replaced.
If there is no ice in the ice maker, look at the fill tube on the rear of the ice maker. If the fill tube is frozen up the ice maker can't fill.
You can defrost the fill tube with a hair dryer.
The water valve on the rear of the refrigerator supplies water to the water dispenser and the ice maker. Since the water dispenser is working, the only line that could be blocked runs up the back of the cabinet and attaches to the fill tube for the ice maker. The water valve could be bad and not sending water to the ice maker.
If the fill tube freezes again you should replace the water valve.
    Hope this helps.

We have a Hotpoint side by side fridge. It always makes

check the door in the dispenser if moisture is condensing and freezing so that the door won't open try manually popping the door open just before you attempt to dispense ice, maybe you'll get lucky, otherwise your going to have to get a technician to come and check the micro-switch for the dispenser

GE GSH22SGRE - water dispenser not working but ice cube maker working fine

I fixed mine by leaving the light on the dispenser on. It took about 6 hrs, but the little heat from the light bulb was enough to defrost the water line.
