The pulley is on the front of the motor for the belt and runs under and back to the blades. If you open the hood and do not see the belt it has broken off at some point.

John Deere D110 mower. It quits moving forward after 5 feet. The pedals feel lose, replaced blade, belt and trans belt and axle keys, but no luck.

Quester edited for clarity and spelling 'deer' to 'Deere'.
Question moved to John Deere D110.

Try the 5 minute fix, but your sounds like the hydrostatic transmission.

Belt. came off... pulling up blade engagement knob nothing seems to happen.....I have trackter up on blocks with blade cutting height at 1 with engine runnig the blade engagement knob switch ...

sounds like a bad PTO, that is the electrical gizmo on the bottom of the engine's driveshaft which engages the bottom pulley, running the deck. you might luck out and find the fuse is blown so follow the wire from the PTO back until you find the fat part in the wire. the fat part is an in line fuse holder with a fuse in it. if the fuse is bad and blows again, you need a new PTO

John Deer 100 series Having problems with the mower deck. Started hearing a ticking sound while mowing. stopped to clear a possible obstruction. pulled PTO knob and it is down right jammed up! wants to...

Check that the blades spin freely by hand. That may be in contact with the deck somewhere or one of the deck bearings may be seized. Regards Phil.

Mower blades willnot engage

make sure the battery is fully charged, check all electrical connections and clean them with vinegar and rinse well with demineralized water afterward.

John Deer X475 lawn mower

Check fuses.Does the dash light for PTO come on?Right side screen by pedals sometimes comes in contact with wires and cuts them. This happens mainly on the older units.

Blades wont engage on a john deer riding mower

May be a safety switch not letting the PTO engage the clutch? Also check your voltage at the battery...too low a voltage won't let the clutch engage either. Should be between 13.3-14v at full throttle.
