Has apple address on screen
First try resetting the iPod. If this does not work then restore it.
To RESET IPOD:
1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again).
2 Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
To RESTORE IPOD
To update or restore iPod classic:
1 Make sure you have an Internet connection and have installed the latest version of iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/?ipod
2 Connect iPod classic to your computer.
3 In iTunes, select iPod classic in the source list and click the Summary tab. The Version section tells you whether iPod classic is up to date or needs a newer version of the software.
In Restore all data is erased from iPod classic, including songs, videos, files, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPod classic settings are restored to their original state.
I am having a very similar problem but my itunes is not recognizing that my ipod is plugged in so I am unable to restore it. I've tried resetting it and that has not worked. Anybody have any suggestions?
Try the following and let me know:
Option 1: Download or update your itunes to the latest version. Restart your computer and then plug in your iPod.
After this see if your computer recognizes the device and then if itunes shows it.
If your computer is not recognizing the device i.e. it does not show in your "My Computer" then you need to check if your computer has a hardware problem.
Frankly i would try the device by connecting it to another PC or MAC.
