Staple gun was working ok until I used it on multiple panels to cover with fabric - now it is very, very, very delayed response time to insert the staple - I hold the "trigger" down as always but literally wait minute(s) for the staple to insert.

Strip staples and brads intended to be used in wood, are coated with a very thin film of lacquer. When fired into the wood the lacquer melts from friction and acts as a glue which is why they can be very hard to remove.
