SOURCE: Actiontec GT701-WG doesn't recognize a DVR on the LAN

I think the screen you may be looking at is the Application layer forwarding screen, the drop down box being populated by DHCP clients, that's why it isn't seeing the DVR. The DMZ Hosting screen doesn't have a drop down box, it only requires an IP address to be entered.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Using the Actiontec GT704WG as just a router with

The laptop/computer's wireless card may not have the latest wireless card driver installed or it is not enabled and working. Check Device Manager to see if is is working and enabled. I suggest you install the latest wireless card driver.
Next check the wireless card configuration, it needs to have the wireless router's settings, ie SSID and encryption etc.

SOURCE: trying to change from actiontec gt701 to actiontec

The reason why your internet light is red for the actiontec gt701-wg is because it is not yet configure. You need to access the gui of this router. enter the username and password for your internet connection. You can contact your ISP provider so they can walk you through for the steps on how to configure your new router.

The old router has green light because it was already configured by your ISP provider.

How do i bridge my Version: GT784WN-VZ-1.1.6

If this is a Verizon router/modem that you are trying to connect your own router to in order to use it as the DHCP device with your home network, you will need to contact Verizon technical support and they will perform the bridging operation for you. You cannot do it yourself with many of these devices.

How i can get myusername and password

Most Actiontec Modems and Routers DO NOT have a default login. The exceptions are the Actiontec Modems and Routers made and branded for a specific Internet Service Providers (ISP). Some ISP's require a default user name and password. These Modems and Routers have a sticker on the bottom of the device with the default User name and Password printed on them.

How do I put the password from my modem into my other devices

Go into networks , somewhere in there it will ask you for the security code and it is in the back of the router. In the old units it used to be 10 digits, sorry that is as much as I can remember. Good Luck Chuck.

I have an Actiontec PK5000 which I successfully use via a cable on the DSL network. I now have a Dell Laptop with wireless capability and want to know how to activate the wireless option on my PK 5000. I...

To turn on your wireless on the PK 5000.

If the PK5000 was setup with the default settings follow these steps to turn on the wireless.

1.) Open up an internet browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

2.) Delete the info in the address bar at the top where it has your homepage the http://www.myhomepage.com, then type in the numbers 192.168.0.1 then press enter. This should take you to the modem configuration page. If not, you may have another address for your modem such as 192.168.1.1

3.) On the Modem Configuration page there are 5 options. Choose the Wireless Setup option.

4.) In the middle of the page there are 4 steps.

5.) On step one turn the wireless to On by selecting the small circle button next to On.

6.) On step two this is your wireless name that will appear when connect from your laptop, you can change this name to something you would like or you can keep the default name.

7.) On step three it is already selected the default passphrase/password that will be required when you attempt to connect to the wireless network from your laptop. The default password is in green. I recommend keeping the default Key/passphrase: you will notice the default key/passphrase is also on the modem itself near the barcode under key/passphrase so if you ever forget it you can look on the modem.

8.) On step 5 click on apply, your PK 5000 will reboot itself and the light on the modem next to wireless will turn green when the power light is a steady green.

9.) On your laptop search for wireless networks then select the network name you chose, then enter the key/passphrase from the back of the modem next to key/passphrase.

10.) That should do it, good luck.
