I replaced an actiontec PK5000 with an actiontec gt784wn. With the old modem I was able to change the device names, with the new one I cannot find any way to do this

I think the screen you may be looking at is the Application layer forwarding screen, the drop down box being populated by DHCP clients, that's why it isn't seeing the DVR. The DMZ Hosting screen doesn't have a drop down box, it only requires an IP address to be entered.

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem
Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and test the Internet connection.
if this still didnot work, maybe you need to upgrade the firmware of your router

first you need to know th ip adress enter it in your internet browser. It may ask for a user name and password. You seting should then be displayed after that.

The laptop/computer's wireless card may not have the latest wireless card driver installed or it is not enabled and working. Check Device Manager to see if is is working and enabled. I suggest you install the latest wireless card driver.
Next check the wireless card configuration, it needs to have the wireless router's settings, ie SSID and encryption etc.

The reason why your internet light is red for the actiontec gt701-wg is because it is not yet configure. You need to access the gui of this router. enter the username and password for your internet connection. You can contact your ISP provider so they can walk you through for the steps on how to configure your new router.
The old router has green light because it was already configured by your ISP provider.
