Power won't come on my LG Plasma 50PN6500 TV. How do I test it to see if it's my power board or something else?

I've done some research and narrowed it down. My standby is on but no response when I hit the power. It has a ceramic fuse I think but I don't know how to check it. I have a tester, but I'm not sure what to test to see if my power board is bad or if its something else like the main board. The model number is 50PN6500-UA. SN 402RMUY1K062. Power Board PN EAY62812601

Check its AC line input cord first. If it is OK, check and replace the main power regulator board [SMPS]; inside the TV.

SOURCE: how do I test the y-sustain main board from a

Hi.

As such boards are cheap and fail quite easily (both the two sustain and the buffers) Philips service manuals are more oriented at board swapping then at proper testing. In this particular case the buffer boards fail very easily because of a bad soldering to IC. The short will regularly blow the main sustain board.

To start when a main sustain (e.g. Ysus) is fried the TV will go in protect mode with the led flashing in standby. One test is done disconnecting the Sus board (with power off) and restarting the TV. If TV does not go in protect, then the sustain board was good.

If there is no protection:

The first thing to check on a main sustain board is the fuse. If the fuse has blown the IC is probably fried.I believe fuse is F5004. Check for swollen capacitors that may have blown. Test the FET. That is the core of the board as it is the power amplifier.

Here the service manual:PHILIPS_SM_15540.pdf - Right Click "Save Target As"

Here a more useful service manual. Check and follow troubleshooting diagrams in manual.

Here some troubleshooting from users.

Note:if buffer board was shorted, then the main sustain board is usually faulty.

Regards.

SOURCE: LG px950-ua plasma TV. How do I restore picture and sound?

Before spending more money on boards, measure the voltages that are there. If ok, it's not power supply.

SOURCE: TV powers on and and there is a backlight but no picture. The power supply board has been replaced but I haver no LG power up and drop down menus... Bad Control Board? My house was hit by lighteni

Hi, checking user manual there's no soft reset option so maybe the main board is faulty too, usually when there's a damage by lighting in power supply this also reaches the main board since they aren't electrically isolated.

I have a LG 42PN4500 plasma tv and it won't turn on. When I press the power button, the red stand by light flashes 3-4 times then shuts off. How can I find the problem?

The number and frequency of the flashes is symptomatic of the issue. Usually it would get you a start as to the reason. Here's a link for the service manual https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1206553/Lg-42pn4500-Sa.html
a 2013 Plasma that has been used for the 6 years, likely is about done with the screen. If the screen itself doesn't even flash on, the potential is you need a new screen. It will be significantly cheaper to purchase a new LED tv than get a replacement screen for a plasma. Especially of that age. There are almost no plasma TVs manufactured today due to the costs involved in the parts that break down... (aka the plasma screen) I wouldn't put a lot of research and time into a plasma that old. You can get a brand new 42" LED from Walmart (as of two days ago in Villa Rica GA) for about $140... If for your own edification, have fun, but I think financially other than the learning process, it is probably not worth fixing.

I have a 3 year old LG 50pt350 plasma tv. I just tried to turn it on, I only got sound, no picture. Never heard a "pop" per say. The screen stays "off" there is no glow, nothing. After doing some research...

Many LED TVs and other electronics have bad capacitors on their power supply boards. You can visually inspect them by opening the TV and looking for capacitors with bulging tops. If tou see any, replace them all in the power board section. Check to see if your TV is still under warranty first though.

I have a LG Plasma 50PK750 that when you turn it on and goes right back off.

This issue is a common, but hardly talked about from LG. Your tv is probably 1 or 2 months out of warranty, and now you're hearing a series of clicks. After weeks of fighting with LG to replace my tv, i decided to fix it myself. i'm proud to announce that my 50PK540 is now working. want proof? Take a look at the video i posted on youtube, then you will have a better understand why your tv is clicking... I'm also selling the repair kit for this power supply board on ebay now. LG power supply Board model number EAY60968801. With anyone of these PCB # EAX61392501/7, EAX61392501/10, EAX61392501/11, or EAX61392501/12 with the parts if this kit, I've also fis several 50PK750 models, Some clients have send me their broken power supply board, so I can do the repairs. Please Make sure that you've already gone through the process of troubleshooting and testing your tv's power supply board before making any purchases.. I recommend that you get a tv tech to check it out, because every tv is different. Email at [email protected] if you have any question.and watch the video:

My lg plasma 50pk750 turns on for a second and then you hear a click and turns itself off. tried unplugging it and letting it sit but it still does the same thing.

I think i could be a power supply issue... If you have the courage to open the back cover of your tv, and you do "NOT" see any bad (bulging ) capacitors on the power supply board, then it could be the voltage regulator. Take a look at the video i posted on youtube, then you will have a better understand why your tv is clicking... I'm also selling the repair kit for this power supply board on ebay now. There are several known issues that can cause that.

The top candidate is the main board, the next is the Y-Main board.

Here's a link for repairing the power supply board of LG 42PG20, which also contains a link to how to test your own board to see if it is good or not:

LG 42PX4MVH PLASMA TV - Sound but no picture.

You need the ysus board. This is a very common problem with LG's. If it is coming up with the fuse removed you are essentially removing the short from the power supply so that it can come up and deliver other voltages for sound and all. Check out encompassparts.com if you are going to try to repair this yourself. Thanks
