Ball on blackberry wont navigate up or down

Hi. BlackBerry smartphone trackball fails to roll in a particular direction because, debris is lodged in the trackball.
The trackball user interface found on certain BlackBerry smartphones is similar to the trackball used in a mouse in a desktop computer.
Using for certain period debris comes in contact with the trackball and affects the usability of the BlackBerry smartphone, rapidly roll the trackball up, down, left, or right to potentially correct the problem.
If rapidly rolling the trackball does not correct the problem, please contact your wireless service provider for support options.
I hope this information will be helpfull.

The track ball moves up and side ways, but will not roll down at all

Hi,

Please select Options from the Main Menu
then click on Screen/Keyboard
then scroll down till you get Trackball, just below that you will find
Horizon Sensitivity &
Vertical Sensitivity, please increase the numbers then Save and check the effect.

If you still face the same problem you need to take the Handset to the nearest Service centre and get it checked cause it could be the problem with the Trackball itself.

Thank You.

Trackball will not go down. Pearl 8100

It has been in my experience with the 8100 that if you can't scroll a certain direction, there was debris on the roller preventing it from registering the roll. Turn the phone off, press down on the track ball (as if to press a button) roll the ball down (in your case). This may help dislodge whatever debris is caught in the roller. It has worked for me several times. You may want to try and clean the trackball as well with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.

If it were a software problem, then I would imagine you turning off the phone (battery pull) would clear this up anyways.

Best Regards,
Bill

The ball won't scroll down

Have you removed the ball at any time? If it is put back in wrong, it could cause this. If not, the ball assembly itself might be bad. You can find them fairly cheap on eBay.

Blackberry 8830 wont track down - trackball stuck

This is usually caused by the trackball getting dirty.

Use a q-tip dipped in IPA and clean it. Roll the trackball around and swab the q-tip around to clean.

If cleaning fails then you will need to replace the Blackberry trackball.

Check the following link on instructions on how to do that.
