If you're having trouble closing the lid on your Opal coffee machine, here are a few things you can try:
1. Check for any obstructions: Make sure there are no coffee grounds or other debris stuck in the lid or the surrounding area. Clean the lid and wipe away any residue that might be preventing it from closing properly.
2. Align the lid properly: Sometimes, the lid may not align properly with the machine, preventing it from closing. Take a close look at the lid and the corresponding opening on the machine. Ensure that the lid is positioned correctly and aligns with the opening. Try gently pressing down on different parts of the lid to see if it helps with alignment.
3. Apply gentle pressure: In some cases, the lid might require a bit of force to close properly. Apply gentle pressure to the lid while attempting to close it. Be careful not to use excessive force as it may damage the machine.
4. Consult the user manual: If you're still unable to close the lid, refer to the user manual provided with your Opal coffee machine. The manual might have specific instructions or troubleshooting tips for lid-related issues.
5. Contact customer support: If none of the above steps work, it's recommended to reach out to the customer support or the manufacturer of the Opal coffee machine. They should be able to provide further assistance and guide you through the troubleshooting process or offer a possible solution.
Remember to exercise caution and refer to the manufacturer's instructions before attempting any repairs or adjustments to your coffee machine.
Maybe you inserted the pod with the wrong side up or you used a 2-cup pod in a single cup holder. If the clamping spring isn't working (the lid feels loose when you try to close it), that spring (that is nothing more than a straight piece of metal wire) needs to be replaced.
filter door(tray must be fully inserted(closed and the pot must be on center with the burner tray undernerath.. check to see that the funnel under the filtewr tray is on center with the pot lid..
Take the disc out, hold the disc holder down flat, then close the lid. Open up and will work as normal. If this works for you, please visit sun-light. co.uk
It seems to be caused by pressure build up (not a vacuum) when the outlet of the pod holder gets blocked. There are three plastic bolts that slide into place to lock the lid as the lever is operated. Pressure forces the lid up and increases the friction on the bolts to the point where they won't operate. Solutions 1 and 2: First disconnect Senseo from the electric supply. Solution 1 is to press down on the lid to overcome the pressure and then operate the lever to unlock. Didn't work for me. Solution 2 is to get a table knife, not sharp, no serrations but with a rounded end, not pointed. Insert under lid just to right of pod holder handle, at an upwards angle of about 20 degrees to the horizontal. Then aim for the opposite 11 o'clock position on the closed lid. With a few tries the knife blade should slide between the top of the pod holder and the rubber sealing gasket releasing the pressure. Beware hot steam/water as pressure is released - wear gloves. Open lid, unblock pod holder hole with a pin, fill and heat resevoir and then flush through without a coffee pod in place.
The hinge itself is not orderable, but a lid with the element that fits into the hinge was available from Cuisinart the last time I checked. Call 1-800-726-0190 to be sure. It is not easy to put the replacement lid into the right place without breaking the part, but it is possible - you have to put one bar into the hinge, and then pull the other bar just enough to fit it into place without breaking it. If you are out of warranty, the lid will cost somewhere betwen $15 and $20 with shipping.
Had the same problem.I fixed it by carefully prying the top lid apart, the latch had become detached from the slider inside.Simply snap the latch back onto the slider and snap lid assembly back together.Do all this unplugged with reservoir empty.
