The area will first have to be sanded smooth and cleaned and dried thoroughly.

If the cavity metal of the oven is cracked or split, you can use a small amount of steel-based epoxy such as JB-WELD to patch the crack or hole.

Once that dries thoroughly, you can sand it very smooth.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

Can I repaint the rust parts in the bottom of the micro wave oven and what kind of paint can be used?

Hello -

Yes the rusted areas inside a microwave oven can be repainted.

First, you will need appliance paint which is designated for microwave interior use. Check with your local hardware store or local home improvements store to find out what paints they sell which fit the criteria for "microwave cavity paint."

You can read directions for how to go about the project:
https://www.doityourself.com/stry/how-to-repaint-the-inside-of-a-microwave

Read the instructions through, completely, before starting on your project so you know what supplies you need to have available and what steps need to be followed before starting.

Best wishes.

The metal is showing inside. The white coating is pealing. Is this dangerous?

The peeling of the white coating inside of the microwave oven is dangerous in terms of creating a fire hazard and potentially contaminating the food you cook within it. This can be prevented by cleaning up all splatters and spills immediately before using the microwave oven again. You can fix the peeling by replacing the microwave oven or repairing it. To repair it, you will have to remove the peeling coating and then repaint the interior of the microwave with paint that is designed for microwaves in general. Though, if you do this, you will have to let the paint dry up for at least 24 hours. I hope this helps you!

My oven sparks from the metal plate on the side.

Check to see if there is any rust or cracks in the coating that came from the factory. Some microwaves use metal underneath an epoxy type coating and if it is exposed, it can cause an arc from the microwave generator. If there are any defects in the surface, it can be sanded down and you can purchase a can of interior microwave paint and put a coat of paint over the defective area. Also look for any exposed metal in the area of the sparks, there should no metal exsposed anywhere, if it is, cover it with the paint. hope this helps.

Whirlpool gold GT4175SPS-2 inside door paint is flaking and revealing metal. Is it safe to use?

Hi,

Scratches, flaking and bare spots are fairly common, but should be addressed as soon as they arise so the corrosion will not spread and arcing does not occur.

Unplug the power cord first.

Take some mild sanding cloth or scotchbright and clean the bare and rusted areas in the microwave. Use appliance touch up paint to re-coat the surface. You can find the touch up at most anywhere that sells appliances, it comes in a plastic bottle similar in appearance to fingernail polish, yes it does have a brush inside.

Let it dry per the instructions on the bottle or 24 hours if not specified.

Unplug the power cord and remove the turntable and the support that is under the turntable. Clean the surface of the support wheels or any other part that rubs on the oven cavity.

Hello i have a problem with my microwave I used an abrasive cleaner on bottom of microwave under the turntable it has now started to rust at this stage surface rust only is it repairable

Yes you can, it is a painted surface correct? If so buy some rust inhibitor spay or primer and spary the bottom and then paint. Make sure you tape off any vents on the bottom before you do anything

COATING ON INSIDE OF MICROWAVE HAS STARTED TO COME OFF, EXPOSING UNDERNEATH SURFACE, IS IT STILL SAFE TO USE AND EAT FOOD COOKED IN IT?

Nothing special in there. As long as the paint is not flaking into the food you are ok, Be aware that bare metal could begin to arc. There is special microwave paint available but it will not match and look bad unless you redo the entire interior.
