Take off the black plastic hood (4 screws), clean debris and check connections to, and condition of, shunted brushes. They're available from B&D parts for a few bucks.
The B & D MM575 mower is not battery operated nor is it cordless. CMM1200 CMM1936 CMM1836 are the currently available cordless mowers. You can buy a battery from B &D, they list it here: http://blackanddecker.com/ProductGuide/Product-Details.aspx?ProductID=22989
Mulching mowers are great if you dont have the time to rake the excess grass or the means ( time or ability) to dispose of te collected remains. The mower will mulch te grass right back over te top of the cut grass with minimal apperance of grass being left behind, if you kep up on the cutting schedule that is. Better for larger areas where "lines" would usually remaine with a non mulching mower.
