Can software be upgraded on the sharp lc-40le830u

Not all televisions have Firmware Updates. They are only updated for a specific problem or to add a feature to a new set. Firmware tells the unit what to do, and what to allow before the software loads. Software Upgrades are more likely and are not fraught with the dangers of firmware which if fail, usually means buying a new motherboard. For software, you just try again.

FPA stands for Front Panel Lock, which disables the buttons on the TV's front panel. To disable it on the Sharp LC-40LE830U, follow these steps:

1. Turn on the TV.
2. Press and hold the VOL- button on the TV's front panel.
3. While holding the VOL- button, press and hold the INPUT button on the remote control.
4. Hold both buttons down until the message "Service Menu" appears on the screen.
5. Release both buttons.
6. Use the arrow keys on the remote to highlight "Option" and press ENTER.
7. Highlight "FPA Lock" and press ENTER.
8. Change the setting to "Off" and press ENTER.
9. Press EXIT to exit the service menu.

The FPA lock should now be disabled, and you should be able to use the buttons on the TV's front panel again.

If both your front panel and remote control are disabled, the best option would be to perform a factory reset to restore the TV to its original settings.
To reset the Sharp LC-40LE830U to factory settings:

1. Unplug the TV from the power outlet and wait for at least 60 seconds.
2. Press and hold the power button on the TV for 5 seconds while the TV is still unplugged.
3. Plug the TV back in and turn it on using the power button on the TV itself.

However I would expect that Sharp would offer this firmware upgrade direct if you are still unsure

Download and install software upgrade may fix this problem. If set is connected to internet no flash drive is needed. look for upgrade in menu.

Have repaired under warranty.

Hello; Contact Sharp for any available upgrades. Most are installed using a USB stick or SD card. A word to the wise: If your set seems to be working OK. STAY AWAY from doing upgrades! Most problems are not due to having upgrades! John

If you refering to firmware upgrade- there is non avalable for this model.

Dont invalidate the warranty by doing anything this could be a software issue,a lot of new sharps have older versions of software that cause this issue,will need an upgrade
