The feed dog control is the knob at the very bottom front, right side of the machine. If the feed dogs are not dropping, most likely the machine needs a thorough cleaning and OILING! I use Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube.

SOURCE: Feed dogs do not come back up after lowering

Are you talking about the feed dogs or the presser foot. Either way, if you moved a lever to lower them, there is probably a screw that either fell out or has become loose that holds the linkage to the lever.

SOURCE: Bernina 1008 feed dog problem.

Your machine needs oiling. The feeddogs are stuck. Could be in several places. You would have to remove the back and side covers to get to what needs cleaning and oiling. Especially behind that knob. Just removing the covers is a job so I can't recommend you do this unless your trained. But you can try. Don't forget the screws beneith the machine. But really, there is too much behind the handwheel for a novice to deal with. Maybe see if you can just let some sewing machine oil just run down behind the feedog knob and work it alot.
Good luck.

SOURCE: Is there a way to lower the feed dogs ''a little''?

I thought this was free . . . didn't know I'd be asking to join. So, I called the shop where I purchased the machine. They were able to help me fix the problem.

SOURCE: I hav e Bernina 1150. When I attach the walking

Hi, when you quilt straight lines using the walking foot, you need the feed dogs up, to move the fabric in a straight direction under the needle. When you do free motion quilting, which is done with a darning foot, your hands move the fabric in many different directions. Since you want to be the one to move the fabric, you put the feed dogs down and you do the work. So when you use the walking foot, keep your feed dogs up. When you use the darning foot, feed dogs down.

I have lowered my feed dogs on my Bernina 830 and don't know how to get them back up, can you help me?

How did you lower them? Reverse the process. There should be a little lever on the back or side of the machine which controls feed dogs. If you can find it that should help. :-)

What would cause a Bernina 830 Record to be sluggish and labored at low speed but run beautifully at high speed? Thank you.

Your beloved Bernina 830 Record needs a good cleaning and oiling. The old oil has solidified and is beginning to seize the machine. Continued use may burn out the motor. Also, other parts will begin to falter, ie the stitch selectors, the feed dogs, the needlebar... These old machines are great but they do require TLC to keep them happily purring.

Where is the feed dog lever on my bernina record 830 sewing machine

On the Bernina 830 Record (older mechanical model), it is usually the very bottom knob on the right side (directly below the Stitch Length Lever). It should turn right or left about a quarter turn to switch between feed dogs up or down. If the knob is frozen, then it has seized due to old dried oil (a common occurrence with older mechanical machines that have not been serviced regularly). Stuck feed dogs, stitch selectors, buttonhole knobs, and the handwheel are some of the most frequent victims of seizure. However, with lots of patience, time, fresh good quality sewing machine oil or liquid Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube, elbow grease and a handheld hairdryer, these issues can usually be successfully addressed.

I have a Bernina 830. Using #03 foot....bobbin thread through the hole in the arm of the bobbin. Why does it not go in reverse to finish the buttonhole?

If it is the older Bernina 830 Record, could be some of the parts have seized due to lack of oil. Frequently, seldom used functions (levers, dials, feed dog control) are the first signs.

Be sure to move the dials/levers and apply oil there as well.

Bernina 1130 feed dogs won't feed fabric

On a Bernina 1130 the power on-off knob and the feed dog raise and lower knob look similar and are next to each other on the end of the machine, making it easy to lower the dog assembly entirely, without realizing it. Make sure you didn't accidentally lower the entire feed dog assembly by turning the feed dog knob: you can tell as you turn it if the dogs are up or down. On the Bernina 1130 the knob, like the power should be in the horizontal position to be working both feed and power.
