Vizio LED TV model # e500i-b1. No sound picture. On light stays on. Not sure if it's the main board or the t-con board or another thing. Did the flashlight test and didn't see anything in the screen.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

SOURCE: 42" Vizio - no picture no sound

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

On LCD Pay particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

SOURCE: 47' (sic) LED TV, model number m470vse. Why doesn't the backlight work?

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

In some models of LCD TVS; the backlight inverter and its T'Con board will be a part of the panel itself, and will be a built-in type inside the LCD panel. If so, they can't be replaced. In this case; a panel replacement is the only repair. For some other models, the backlight inverter section circuit will be a part of the main power supply regulator [SMPS]. To such sets, the power supply section circuit too should trouble shoot. Contact any service technician. The circuit will differ with models and versions.

SOURCE: On my Hisense 50K23DG LED TV, I have sound but no picture.

Hi,
Hisense TV's usually use PCB Boards by Vestel and not Hisense themselves, have a look at: Vestel Help If the Boards in your Hisense match this Board/Part Number format at least you'll know what to search for, replacing the power supply will not help unless the process has been incorporated into the power supply and that is not known for certain yet

SOURCE: I have a Vizio E500i-b1 50" led tv and if I turn it off I can not get it to turn back on for hours/days....any help is appreciated!

Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Vizio E500i-b1 went dark, any ideas on what to check next?

You can change boards in your TV all day and it's most likely no going to fix this set. Have you ever had a set of miniature Christmas lights that seemed to work great then all a sudden none would light, either because a bulb burned out or fell out? There are 2 types of electrical circuit wirings, one is series the other parallel. In series like your LED backlights are wired in your TV there are about 8 button lamps per circuit that have a 24 volt DC supply serving each set as this TV has what's called local dimming, one of the lamps has opened up making that set not light up, the power supply has over voltage and over current protection for each supply if one lamp opens up they all go out and this is exactly what's happened in your TV, the power supply safety circuit is non discretional, if it detects an error it shuts down the entire backlight circuit giving you no backlights. As far as a break down on what fails 5% of the times it's the main board 5% its the power board and the other 90% of no backlight failures on this model TV comes from the backlights being bad. You can change just the one bad strip if you wish but it's advised to change them all. Good luck!

My Vizio mod E500i-B1 heard a pop and no picture or sound. Would replace main board be possible fix?

It sounds like a surface mounted capacitor blew out. Examine the main board and see if you can see the failed part, if you do then replace that board.

My Vizio e500i-b1 LEDtv went out last night. How can i tell if it's the main board or the tcon board that isn't functioning?

I would verify the voltages on the power supply board first because an improper voltage to a circuit board may make that board look bad.
