I am trying to unlock my home theatre so that it can play dvd from every region. It is asking me for a 2 letter code as in AU for Australia. What would the 2 letter code be for region free?

Hi Elizabeth. Not all DVD players are able to be made "multi region". The model numbers of DVD players that are multi region have the same model number as a "home" region player. There is no difference in the appearance of the unit. If it was sold to you by a retailer on the understanding that it could be made a multi region, then I suggest you call them ask ask for the code. Quite often, there is a procedure to follow when converting a DVD player to multi region - along the lines of - place the non region disk in the tray and press buttons X, X and X. I know this doesn't answer your question but I hope it gives you an explanation!

Your home theatre, because it's a BR player, has been made specifically for that region - the region for both the DVD and the BR is hard coded in the processor chip. Because of that there is no other region to switch to so you would need to replace the processor to change the region without making it region free.
Sorry, there is no way of making it region free.

ur dvd player has region lock . it will not play all the disk. check the DVD OF STAR WARS MOVIE which region it belongs. jus try the following not sure is it work or not

Open the tray. Press 99990 on the remote.
by doing this ur dvd player will become region free
then insert ur dvd and try.
for region 1 and region 2 code is 99991 ,99992 respectively.

To unlock the DVD code its defends upon what region you belongs or from were you bought the DVD unit. Just click this site to hack the region code ; http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

To keep it simple, this means that DVD players and DVDs are labeled for operation on within a specific geographical region in the world. For example, the U.S. is in region 1. This means that all DVD players sold in the U.S. are made to region 1 specifications. As a result, region 1 players can only play region 1 discs. That's right, the DVDs themselves are encoded for a specific region. On the back of each DVD package, you will a find a region number (1 thru 6).
The geographical regions are as follows:
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Reserved for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

The end result is that DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1 cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs

Below is the only known process to unlock the region settings on that model of dvd player.

Make sure there is no disc in it
Turn on by pressing "Power"
(--------) apears an "No Disc"
Press "Pause" on remote and "314159"
"Code" apears
Press "0"
"Code 00" apears
press "enter"
Press "Pause" on remote
Turn off and on

Hope this works for you, let me know. If it doesn't then there are no available region hacks for your dvd player.

Power up the set and open tray in DVD mode.
Press <9999> follow by <X> buttons on the Remote control.

5 = Russia, India
6 = China
0 = Code Free
