The blower will start after you go through the Full choke then it goes dead. Move to half choke. It cranks and runs wide open for 2 -4 seconde and goes dead. Does this over and over. Will not stay running....

Check the following, and then clean or replace:
  • Fuel Filter - Located INSIDE the fuel tank
  • Spark Plug
  • Spark Arrestor - at Muffler
  • Carburetor - May need a rebuild kit

Won stay running

Needs a carb adjustment, cleaning, or possible rebuilt. Try adding a little seafoam and running at half choke for about 5 mins or longer this may clean it up nicely. also check the spark plug.

I recently tuned up my blower. It starts great but if I turn it off Nd try to restart it it floods and will not start until I let it sit for awhile.

If the engine is warm and you shut it down, leave the choke off, lower the revs and start it. (when the choke is wide open you are using the fresh air coming in to dry the spark plugs and prevent flooding). If the motor is already flooded use that procedure to dry the plugs, then go back to full choke until it tries to start and quits again, then use half choke and pull one more time... works all the time.

What is the starting procedure?

Start with the choke on full press the fuel siphon button till the lines are full of fuel. pull handle until it tries to start but stops. move the choke to half then start again. let it run for 60 seconds on full. don't move the choke to full or it will stop. Either slow the revs and then put the choke on full or keep the revs high and slowly move the choke to full (to allow the governor to slowly advance with the new revs)

I have a mtd 3.5hp 21" snow blower it was bought new in 11/06 the problem im having is stalling it starts ok some times other times it stalls and won't run others it will only run at full choke if...

Try running some fuel system cleaner through it. A good choice is Chem Tools Berryman B-12. There are some hardworking solvents in the product that could help you overcome a dirty carburetor. Initially use a good, strong dose. Maybe double what they recommend . (1 oz/gallon). If this doesn't work, the carb will probably need to be removed and inspected and cleaned.

I cant start my leaf blower

I would suggest a new plug and fresh gas and oil mix.push the primer bulb 8-10 times and turn choke to full.pull cord about 4 or 5 times until it starts.if it don,t stay running turn choke to half and pull cord until starts should stay running.let run for about 10 seconds then turn off choke.Almost forgot that during this whole process you hold throttle wide open.
