Does the oven have a ribbon cable between the touch pad and the circuit board that's not soldered on to either one? Sometimes, only one wire needs to be bad for a number of buttons to stop working.

KCMS145JSS kitchenaid microwave start button doesn't work unless I hold it down the entire time it's on.

sounds like Touch pad/Keypad/Membrane Switch is bad or control panel is bad.
You can go online and using your model number search for parts, or have it repaired.
If your order parts do you have the skill, knowledge and tools to do job? You could end up throwing parts at it. Personally I would weigh the cost of repair plus the age of unit versus a new one.

Built in microwave counter top lights not working

Did you replace bulb yourself if so it may look a good bulb with filament complete but if you have touched the glass part of bulb with your fingers it can knacker the bulb.
Also the switch membrane panel traces the circuit from both the switch membrane and the lighting circuit to the power circuit board. So, I know that both the lights and the switch membrane have a common terminus on the power circuit board. Since the circuits from both sources lead to a common point,

Error code F2

Per the tech sheets (page 8), "F2" error code means "Keyboard failure". Recommended by the manufacturer to replace the touch panel first and, if it would not solve the problem, then the control board has to be replaced too. Not the best recommendation but we have to follow it.

- The part number for the touch panel (aka a membrane switch) is AP3130765

- The part number for the control board AP3130764

Here are the break down diagrams for the Kitchen Aid microwave Model KHMS155LSS4

Jnm1731dm1bb

For model JNM1731DM1BB, there's no reset. Your membrane keypad is failing and has to be replaced.

On this model, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

It is part number WB07X11033 and you can order it from the Pros here for $148.66 (subject to change).

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order other parts at that link, too.

There is a video here showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move your circuit board into the new frame.

Be careful, the display is made of glass.

Ge profile microwave f3 error and beep

F3 error code indicates that the keypad for the control panel is bad or has a short. This will cause the microwave to beep continuously after the set clock message appears.
1 Unplug the power cord for the microwave from the electrical outlet. Pull the microwave out from the wall and set it on a table or the counter.
2 Find and remove the two screws from the top of the grille, on the font of the unit, with the Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the grille off of the microwave.
3 Find and remove the screws that are used to secure the control panel to the microwave frame. Lift the control panel unit up and away from the microwave.
4 Find and remove the screw that is used to secure the green ground wire. Pull out all of the connectors and ribbon cables from the control board.
5 Apply heat from a hair dryer to the front of the control board for at least 30 seconds. Make sure the hair dryer is at the low setting. Pull up on one corner of the top membrane, then peel it off of the control board.
6 Repeat Step 5 for the other membrane that is on the control board.
7 Insert the pliable circuit of the new membrane through the opening in the control board. Remove the wax backing to expose the adhesive for the membrane. Place the membrane onto the control board.
8 Peel the wax backing off of the top membrane, then place it on the control board.
9 Place the control board back on the microwave and secure it with the screwdriver. Reattach the grille, and set the microwave back in place.
10 Plug the microwave back into the power outlet and reset the clock.

Hope this helps.

A lot of buttons on the touch control panel dont work. How do I open the front plate?

The front touch plate is a thin membrane which sticks on to the front panel of the microwave. You can not get into it. It has to be replaced as a unit.

F2 Error

F2 is a membrane switch error.

1. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
2. Replace membrane switch.
3. If problem persists, replace electronic control.
4. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
5. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.

The answer to your question is YES. I would venture to say the PART is - but not the labor. You would need to read your warranty to confirm.

Touch pad on microwave doesn't work

HI, since this happen before and it suddenly fixed itself, i don't think its major. i recommend checking the ribbons for a tight fit. theses connection ribbons may be lose or partiality separated form the control board, in return, causing this fault. you can accesses the ribbons by removing the backcover of this unit. if the ribbons are in good condition, i recommend replacing the touch pad membrane.

Error Code

I would recheck the control board installtion that you made, as well as verify that you got the correct replacement. Also the board may contain static sensitive componets so you might want to make sure you are grounded when handleing the control panel. Good luck
