in the shop, they checks fuse, and battery voltage.
then they scan the PCM for errors, if they have errors the fix
that first. like bad comms to u connect/nav, radio , ,etc.
then work up to the actual head. finally replacing it.
these are fancy , complex to the max , high end options.

AM/FM (1-CD/DVD/MP3), full map navigation (6.5" integrated touch screen display), 1-disc data drive,
integral satellite & input jacks (RER)
"These radio receivers can only be serviced by an authorized radio repair station. See the latest Warranty Policies
for a current listing of authorized radio repair stations"
this means very special tools are needed to fix the unit
and access to special software updates in the unit.
go to the dealer an get just that.
Make sure your SD Card is inserted in the GPS SD card slot properly. it is located behind the head of the unit( where you insert your DVDs) usually has red or orange tape over it. just remove it and reinstall it. Hope this helps.
Shut the radio off. Touch top right of screen. Once done, hit AV Menue. Initial Setup. AUX1. Switch to Ipod. Once done should work. If not make sure the 3mm jack is plugged into the aux input into the back.
The password can be entered by setting the arrow buttons, if u know the password, or get kenwood to give their default password and check that the touch screen is not getting grounded, 'cos that's when it goes apparently, dead...sodeep
Thats an interesting one. My first suggestion would be to look at the DVD navigation unit in the trunk, does it have any sign of life, i.e will it eject the map dvd is there a blinking redlight etc, if there is nothing then thats most likely your problem if there life in it then I would suggest having a closer look at all the connections in the trunk. You need to remove the side cover in the trunk and check the connections.
If the above doesn't help, my guess would be your head unit has the fault.
The cheapest way to get this repaired is by process of elimination. If you think the DVD unit in the trunk is faulty I would buy one from ebay if you find this doesn't solve your problem you can always resell it on ebay without losing money and the same with your head unit.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I cannot record on my Emerson either and I am wondering what I should do at this point? Do I have to dispose of the unit and all the DVD's that I have recorded or is there an upgrade that will allow me to keep my unit and the Hundreds of DVD that I have?
