I have a Samsung tv mod# un40h5203afxza with a very dark picture. I already replaced the power supply / led board thinking that was my problem but it did not fix it. Any advise is appreciated!

I think an LED problem is more likely. The LED strips are usually powered by a driver circuit on the power supply board. You can check this with a bright flashlight shining on the front of the display at about a 20° angle from parallel to the display. If you can see the picture or the menu with the flashlight beam during the "dark" period, the problem is NOT likely to be the T-Con board.
You can also look at the back of the set with the cover removed - most sets have a number of vent holes in the back plate through which the backlight can be seen when it is on. If these holes go dark when the TV goes black, the backlight is being turned off.
When the screen is lit, take a picture quickly and look for dark spots. Maybe one of the LEDs has a partial short that shuts down the LED power and triggers a retry cycle. If so, after a while it will burn out and then the entire LED strip will be inoperative.
1. open the back cover of the TV, disconnect the cable between the main board & the power supply.
2. Apply the AC power to the power module, if the back lights are not light up, change the LED strips (IF the back lights are bad, in some case, the power supply also been damaged),.
In most of the case the problem is the LED back lights. You may disconnect the cable between the power supply & main board, supply the AC to the TV, the back lights should light up, if not replace all of the LED back light strips,
Hello Anas,
These failure could be a combination of the power supply and the main board failing.
I would suggest to replace both boards or if you are able to measure the voltages from the power supply and verify that the power supply is working, then you should only replace the main board.

Please un-plug the cable between the main board & the power supply, apply the AC power to it, if the back lights come on & still on, replace the main board; if the back lights did not come on, mostly the problem is defective back light LED strips.
