Trane Furnace issue: 2 flash external lockout occurs, confirmed due to retries exceeded.

I agree that it sounds like a circuit board problem. So far as I'm aware, shutting off the power and turning it back on should cause the furnace to reset.

But wait and get some additional opinions on this oddball symptom would be my suggestion.
Thanks guys! The Thermostat is applying power. Both limit switches OK. The 2 microswitches attached to the air pressure lines are OK except one stays closed & one open sensing fan air I guess. Zero voltage read between green & white 120VAC input wires. I don't know what else to check. The darn circuit board will not reset and LED gives 2 flashes for lockout, and it means TOTAL LOCKOUT. Could you guys give me an idea how to go about buying a board to try? The only place near me just about doubles the price unless you are a HVAC company. Do I need to replace the part of the board that says "White-Rodgers" on it or just the green circuit board. Thanks again for helping.
Checked for thermostat voltage to Red & W1, checked limit switches, checked for 0 volts between green & white line input voltage, checked for loose connections. Red LED continues to flash 2 times after power recycled for reset.
Gas valve & igniter receive no power. I don't know what else to check. Does anyone have any more ideas to prove circuit board is bad?

My Trane furnace model is XV80, model # TUD100R9V5H6. If circuit board, do I replace the white box labeled "White-Rodgers, Model 50A51-507" or just the small green circuit board labeled "American Standard 21C148501P01?

I appreciate any more help you could give me including where to buy the board.
Thanks! Mickey

How do I fix an error 22 on my American Standard thermostat

I'm seeing 22 as a loss of flame. Unfamiliar with gas and oil, I'm in south Florida. Does say it locks out for 1 hr and will retry, possibly cycling power will reset lockout but unlikely to fix problem.

Why does my hayward heater have a if error code

the code is IF. it stands for ignition failure.
If the control exceeds the maximum number of ignition retries or recycles the heater will shut down and go into lockout. Automatic reset is 60 minutes.

Why does my hayward h250fd have and if error code? it is a brand new heater

If the control exceeds the maximum number of ignition retries or recycles the heater will shut down and go into lockout. Automatic reset is 60 minutes.
There are a few reasons that this might be happening. They range from air in the gas line to inadequate gas flow. Start by checking the installation

Amana Air Command 90 furnace LED light blinks 3 times pause 3 times

TRI-COLOR (DSI LED) DIAGNOSTIC TABLE
No. of Red BLINKS
1 Flame sensed when no flame should be present
Verify the gas valve is operating and shutting down properly. Flame in burner assemble should extinguish promptly at the end of the cycle. Check orifices and gas pressure.

2 BLINKS Pressure switch stuck closed/ inducer error
Pressure switch stuck closed. Check switch function, verify inducer is turning off.

3 BLINKS 1st-stage pressure switch stuck open/inducer error
Check pressure switch function and tubing. Verify inducer is turning on the pulling sufficient vacuum to engage switch.

4 BLINKS Open limit switch Verify continuity through rollout switch circuit.

5 BLINKS Open rollout/open fuse detect Verify continuity through rollout switch circuit, check fuse.

6 BLINKS 1st-stage pressure switch cycle lockout If the first stage pressure switch cycles 5 times (open, closed) during one call for heat from the thermostat the control will lockout.Check pressure switch for fluttering, inconsistent closure or poor vacuum pressure.
7 BLINKS External lockout (retries exceeded) Failure to sense flame is often caused by carbon deposits on the
flame sensor, a disconnected or shorted flame sensor lead or a
poorly grounded furnace. Carbon deposits can be cleaned with
emery cloth. Verify sensor is not contacting the burner and is locatedin a good position to sense flame. Check sensor lead for shortingand verify furnace is grounded properly.

8 BLINKS External lockout (ignition recycles
exceeded where flame is established and then lost)Check items for exceeded retries listed above and verify valve is not dropping out allowing flame to be established and then lost.

9 BLINKS Grounding or Reversed polarity Verify the control and furnace are properly grounded. Check and reverse polarity (primary) if incorrect.

10 BLINKS Module gas valve contacts energized
with no call for heat Verify valve is not receiving voltage from a short. If a valve wiring is correct and condition persists, replace module.
11 BLINKS Limit switch open - possible blower
failure overheating limit Possible blower failure, restricted air flow through appliance or duct work. Verify continuity through limit switch circuit and correct overheating cause.

12 BLINKS Module Ignitor contact failure Fault code indicates the module ignitor contacts are not functioning
properly. Replace module.Solid Module - internal fault condition Module contacts for gas valve not operating or processor fault.
Reset control. if condition persists replace module.
3 double 2nd-stage Pressure Switch Stuck Open/Inducer Error
Check pressure switch function and tubing. Verify inducer.

When i turn on my furance it starts up later it will try again and the system will lockout with one flash on the board indicating retries recycles exceeded any ideals?

check to make sure the gas is on and the flu pipe is clear.  does the draft motor come on at all?  if not, you may have a failed control board.
