If it's self Cleaning, it is recommended to not use any cleaners except for what's left dirty after self clean has done its job. The residue from the cleaner could catch on fire as the oven gets incredibly hot during Self clean.
the best thing to clean an oven or anything of the sort is to use easy-off oven cleaner... Spray on and leave sit for 15 mins wipe off with dry rag (or medium- fine steel wool if needed) then rinse with wet rag, make sure to rinse all the chemicals off before using it... Also this works great on car rims getting brake dust off "spray on wait til it turns purple blueish then spray with hose." NOTICE - In either case if there are any plastic parts do a spot check on a inconspicuous spot first, because it might bleach the plastic "turn it white".......... The picture is the exact kind that i use for both my oven and rims on my car
if its self cleanin it will say right on it "self cleaning"
self cleaning ovens do exactly that they clean themselves no harsh chemicals (oven cleaner foam) are needed to dissolve the baked on cooking goo that builds up inside ovens , although if one uses a foil liner in bottom then one might never need to self clean it , but some models cant use liners due to convection fans air flow getting in the way ,
self cleaning ovens have the ability to get very hot (500 degrees plus) no one should ever open a oven in cleaning cycle as this hi temp can spontaneously combust to ashes your hair/clothing never the less burn the hand that opened it severely(most lock the door for safety) all that needs done after cycle, is ashes need wiped out with damp towel next day after cleaning cycle is done and oven cooled off completely , im waiting on the day they make one that sweeps its self out into the dust bin ,(not yet )
Hi, W/D here. Ovens just love for you to use the self cleaning feature on them. This gives them all kinds of excuses to lock up, fail components and have other components become "unpredictable". Self cleaning takes the oven to extremely high temperatures to incinerate the baking residue. This also uses a high amount of energy. My best advice is to clean the oven with the spray cleaner whenever possible, and to avoid the self cleaning feature altogether. Use normal precautions with the spray, following the directions on the can. This will do the job just as well, and takes much less time. Just make sure that the product that you use says "safe for self cleaning ovens", and you'll be fine. Best regards, --W/D--
No chemical cleaners should be used on self cleaning ovens. Scrape the heavy soil with a plastic spatula and use the self clean feature. Once chemicals are used it will not clean satisfactorily again. Sorry..... Eric
Oven door : Wash the door and window with soap and water and rinse with clear water. Use glass cleaner only if sprayed on a cloth first. Do not use abrasive pads, powdered cleaners, or steel wool on glass and enamel, or the surfaces will be scratched.
surface burner : To absorb a spill when it is hot, pour salt on it and wipe it up when the oven has cooled. A mildly abrasive baking soda and water paste can be used in the oven, too.
Racks:Remove oven racks and clean them in warm, soapy water. Stubborn messes can be cleaned by using mild abrasive cleansers or a soap filled scouring pad. Rinse and dry the racks before returning them to the oven.
Metal trim:Metal trim can be cleaned with glass cleaners or mild cleansers, soap and water. Abrasives or cleaners made for oven interiors should not be used.
Run the self-cleaning cycle for your oven as often as you need to. It reduces almost any spill to a powdery gray pile of ash that can easily be wiped away at the end of the oven's cleaning cycle using a damp cloth. Make sure you have a window open during the process, to help keep smoke from sticking to walls and your ceiling. You may need to wash down the oven door and frame with a gentle cleaner to remove soil residue. Don't scrub the rubbery gasket that seals the oven door. Just rinse it with dish soap and then water. Don't use abrasives, or oven cleaners on the interior of the oven.
