It may need to be cleaned. Hair can get caught in the brush and can make it hard for the brush to turn. Try cleaning it out. If that doesn't work you can always contact dyson's support to see if they can replace you brush head. Here is the website to get support from dyson. http://www.dyson.com/support.aspx

Hi its Darran at Dyson.
With the machine switched off, press the re-set switch on the side of the head, making sure you push the button in as far as you can. When you switch the machine back on and lower it into the vacuuming position, the brush bar should start turning.

Hi George,
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. Your machine is equipped with a sensor which shuts off the brushbar if something jams it. After you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions, and removed any threads or hair from around the brushbar, you should be able to reset the machine as shown in the video below.
