Front eloading Kenore model HE2 plus. error code 5d
The 5d error on most front-load washers is a Suds error. This can be caused by using too much detergent, a non-high efficiency washer detergent, foreign objects in the pump filter, or a problem with the pump or water pressure switch.
First look in the window of the machine while it's running, do you see a lot of suds? If so, remove the clothing from the machine. Then run the washer while it's empty without additional detergent. You may need to do this a few times to rinse the excess detergent. Then try washing the removed clothes again without adding more detergent to clean them.
Next, open the washer and look for the pump filter. Remove any foreign objects. Look at the impeller and the pump and make sure that nothing is in that section of the washer.
To check if the pressure switch is sending faulty information to the main control of the washer, unplug the washer. Remove the top and find the pressure switch (probably on the left rear of the machine). Remove the hose from the bottom of the switch and blow into it. If the hose is clear, then the pressure switch should be replaced first.
If you add a comment with the model number of the HE2 Plus washer, I will be able to provide the parts diagram showing the pump and filter. I'll also be able to point to replacement parts. Most Kenmore appliance parts diagrams are available at searspartsdirect.com .
I hope this helps.

Hi mankin1,
It is possible that instead of 5d that you have a SD. The SD error is usually form an excess of suds in the washer. In most cases you can run the machine through a couple rinse cycles and clear that right up. If that does not work then you will need to clean out the drain and your pump filter. The filer is located behind the bottom panel and you just unscrew it from the pump. If infact you had a 5D error then I am sorry for misinforming you, I have just never heard of a 5 D and I have been services them for years. I really hope this helped you, good luck. You probably have this solved by now but for others who read this as I did.............
F-20 means
“F20” on display
(Water Inlet Problem—no water or insufficient
water supply)
Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice to cancel the cycle
Unplug washer or disconnect power.
Check the following:
Are water faucets completely turned on?
Are screens at inlet hose connection to washer
clogged? Are water inlet hoses kinked?
Are water inlet hoses frozen?
Hope this helps everyone else as it did me, thanks

Check for the drain hoses(both sides of the pump) and check for a blockage, then check the pump for blockage, there should be 4 impellers on this pump and they can get broken off by coins and debris. This solution will fix your problem.

5d is a definitely a the code for a plugged discharge. We removed the lower access panel and discovered a virtual treasure: $12.50 in quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies, a pen, a pencil, collar stays, 10 bobby-pins, 3 barrettes, a elastic headband, a draw string, a box cutter, 3 washers, 3 broken zipper parts, a elastic waist band. Amazing it took all to trigger a 5d error code. Hope this helps!
