The TV had a tcon bd PN BN41-01815. I ordered a replacement board and received an equivalent PN BN41-01947. With the new board installed, the TV cycles power but is not able to turn on. Does the replacement board need any modifications to work with my TV? Thank you for any help you are able to provide.
There is no modification for T'Con boards. If it was a power board, you can do it. You should replace it with the original number. https://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Hi Bruce, what's going on with you TCL set is one of the COF IC's on the panel boards is shorted, that's why it blew the power fuse on the tcon, a new fuse will blow and not fix it, don't order a new board as that won't help either, the set unfortunately isn't going to be fixable as a new panel won't be available and when they were a few yrs ago they run as much as a new set.
I had same problem. Vertical banding means its not TCON - (timing controller) - these issues would be more likely horizontal in nature.
Probably the Main board needs replacing
Most often, this symptom is a result of a failing LCD CONTROLLER CIRCUIT BOARD (otherwise known as a TCON board), but a faulty MAIN CIRCUIT BOARD can certainly cause very similar symptoms. Unfortunately, without a donor TV to swap parts with or a dedicated test rig, it can be very difficult to differentiate between these problems.
One quick way to test this is to remove the rear access panel on the TV and just replace the TCON board with a new one, since this is the most often the source of the trouble.
You can also check to confirm whether the TCON board is receiving a proper voltage from the power supply. Normally the TCON board receives a 5 or 12VDC supply through the big bundled LVDS cable from the main board. If the TCON board is not getting any power at all, then the problem could be with the MAIN board or even be in the POWER SUPPLY board. Obviously this type of live powered testing can be very dangerous and should only be carried out by experienced technicians observing all the necessary safety precautions.
You can usually find replacement circuit boards online by searching for your TV's model number. Here is a link to a reliable supplier of replacement circuit boards for your model of TV:
Just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information and items at the website indicated.
Just scroll over or click on each of the part numbers on that page and you will see an image of the actual circuit board as well as the replacement cost. This should help you identify each of the boards in your particular set and help decide which repair options are economically feasible.
The repair / replacement procedure is not extremely difficult if you have some basic electrical safety knowledge and some basic electronics / mechanical repair skills.
You will need to unplug the power cord from the unit, lay the TV screen side down on something soft and flat like a bed if necessary, and then remove the rear access panel or the entire rear cover as required in order to access the circuit boards inside.
When you remove the rear cover and access the circuit boards inside, just check the part number that is printed right on your circuit boards and confirm that they exactly match the ones provided in the online listings. Also make sure that any part you order is labelled "TESTED WORKING" in the condition description. Any part with a condition description of "AS IS" is probably faulty itself as well.
The TCON board will likely be hidden under its own metal RF shield / cover plate. Just unscrew this shield, then unclip and remove the various electrical wire connectors leading to the TCON circuit board. Then remove the screws securing the circuit board to the TV frame and then remove the TCON board.
Be sure to avoid touching any large capacitors on the POWER SUPPLY circuit board while you are in there which can retain a nasty charge even after the unit is unplugged.
Then just screw in the new circuit board and connect all the wire bundles to their appropriate connectors on the new circuit board and then replace the shield and rear cover. Then plug in the power cord and test.

Don't return the new refurbish tv power supply board, keep it and used it the old one u have it in ur tv it is shorted and dead already.Return those LCD inverter boards though.Should buy a main tv Tuner signal board and replace it too though, that the other board it is causes and it is also dead too.Repair this problems many times before, alway these two boards are dead.I promise u the tv now will have stable power supply again tv will work again.
You cannot test the T-Con bd with a meter. However if you have the luxury of having another same model tv, you can install the bought T-Con bd and see if it is good or bad. Since you said the Menu and channel flashses, then I would replace the Main board.
