There are only 2 reasons why a machine is not draining

  1. The pump is not working, or
  2. The route the water takes to discharge is blocked somewhere.
The following presupposes the problem is not a circuit board control problem and if none of it solve your problem then a professional may need to be called.

I don't know your level of competence, but if you are prepared to "have a go" then also be prepared to get a little wet as water will come out of some unexpected as well as expected places. The following steps could save you from having to call out a costly, but sometimes necessary engineer. So have a lot of towels ready and give it a go....

Turn off the water and electricity supply and unplug the machine

The easiest thing to check is the filter, something that regularly requires cleaning and you will be amazed at the things that get stuck in there.....coins, hair clips, bra underwires and even socks. Check your manual if you don't know how to do this, but it is usually in the front low down in or behind the kick panel.
The next place to check is underneath and you will need to tilt the machine backwards to do this and 2 people is a lot easier and safer. You should see the filter that you have just cleaned out and there will be 2 corrugated rubber hoses, one that comes from the machine drum and the other that leads to the pump. Squeeze the pipes all the way along and see if you can feel anything in there. There should only be water and you may feel an obstruction somewhere along either, although if there is one it will most definitely be in the drum to filter line. Any obstruction in the one from the filter to the pump is more likely to be soap powder that has remained undissolved (that is one reason I only ever use liquid detergent). If you find any obstruction then you will have to remove it, but that is not as easy as it sound as the pipe clips are usually springs that are tricky to work with.
Now if there are no obstructions, you need to turn your attention to the pump, but all you can do here is to see if it turns freely (both ways) as something like a broken underwire from a bra is just in there and stopping it from turning.
If you have got that far you might be able to try and clear it in the same way as earlier.

I hope that helps and good luck.

SOURCE: Water wont drain from Machine or go onto spin cycle

either the level control switch has become blocked or faulty or the drain pump has become stuck.

disconnect from the mains and gain access to the rear look for a circular unit with two or three electrical connections and a plastic tube. this is the level control.follow the tube to its start and you will find a plastic connection that goes into the wash drum, remove the plastic tube from the switch end and blow into it. if there is no restistance then the system is OK at the drum end. next reconnect the tube to the switch and remove the opposite end, very gently blow down the tube and you should hear the switch operate. Test wether the switch is working by putting a meter across the switch and blow into the tube. if all of this is OK then the drain pump is at fault. locate the drain pump. it is connected to the outlet tube, try turning by hand. if it does not rotate smoothly remove the clips holding the pump body together and clear the obstruction.

SOURCE: Noisy spin on hotpoint aquarius WF530 6kg washing machine. Suspect bearing how do I replace them.

If you spin the drum by hand, and it is niosy and rumbling then the main drum bearings have failed.
If under 5 years old, then you should be able to get it repaired under Hotpoint 5 year guarantee, You just pay for labour and call out, cheapest option, it is not really a D.I.Y job, as it is quite involved, and entails a lot of work.
Please rate my advice.
Thanks.

SOURCE: Hi, there i a knocking noise during the spin cycle

Hi,
I think that the drum bearings have gone on the machine..
To open the door and spin the empty drum quickly by hand and you should hear the noise or say a less amplifed one.. Also another way to check is to move the inner durm up and down to see if there is any play in it
Check for bearing failure by seeing if there is any vertical movement between the moving stainless drum and the fixed outer drum. There should be no vertical movement between them - if there is the bearings have failed and will soon collapse. Check for rusty spray around where the pulley shaft enters the outer drum - early indication of seal and bearing failure. Another method of checking is to remove the drive belt and rotate the drum by hand - there should be no noise, roughness or resistance to rotation. Changing bearings is an involved job, only attempt if you are mechanically competent.
As for changing the bearings.
Power off, remove covers. Disconnect drive belt, remove drive pulley. Remove heater, thermostat and pressure switch. Check if drum splits at front, rear or the middle. If the drum is a plastic welded one- ie one which doesn't split, then its game over. If it splits at front or middle, drum will prob. need removal from machine. This involves dismantling the suspension and damping system and removal of door seal and concrete weights. Undo the drum fixing system - either a clamping ring or a series of peripheral bolts and split the drum. If the drum splits at the rear, removal from machine probably not required. Remove the clamping system and pull off the rear plate. Seal and bearings will come away with the plate. Seal needs to be dug out with a suitable lever and the old bearings hammered out with a punch from opposing sides of the backplate. Refitting is, as they say, a reversal of the above process.
However Unplug the appliance and take the top off.
Check the weight on the top to see if it's slack.
Open the door and with your palm upward put it on the edge of the drum.
Lift it until the weight comes on. Is there a lot of movement?
Press down on the inner drum and swing it side to side, does it sound/feel rough?
Finally, tip the machine rearward a little and from underneath check to see if the front weight is loose.
If all of the above are ok then it's likely the drum support spider has broken one of it's legs and the inner drum is knocking as it spins.
To sort this out you would need to strip the appliance down and remove the inner drum to try and change the bearings and the inner drum support.
This is a major strip down of the appliance.
Hope this helps

Machine will not spin or drain water.

I have a problem with my MW512AU. Sometimes it drains after wash cycle, but sometimes it sticks when it goes to spin, doesn't get up to speed, water comes on for about 10 seconds and shuts off, and it tries to spin again. If I hit the wash progress switch it goes directly to final spin and works ok. I then have to run a 2nd wash cycle to rinse the clothes. I also noticed a buzzing sound when I turn on the power point, which lasts about 3 seconds before stopping. It will come back on every 3-4 minutes for 30 seconds. This is with the machine power switch off. It powers on normally.

I have a hot point aquarius wf321 and it wont come out of the last spin cycle it just keeps filling up with water and keeps going been doing this for the last 8 hours

it may be sucked out by siphoning through your sewer pipe .Probably a siphon problem . Check your drain hose to make sure hose is not stuffed too far down drain and air can get between the hose and the drain pipe . If you have tapped the hose to the drain to keep water from coming out the drain pipe , go to home depot or an appliance parts house , and get a siphon break . When a washer fills , but water level doesn't rise in the machine , it must be going down the drain

Hot point aquarius 1100 - does this have a heating element for cold water feed ? or does is need direct hot water feed ? (there is a inlet at back for both hot and cold so presume no heating element ?)

All Hotpoint washers have heater element regardless of whether they are cold fill only, or hot and cold fill.
if 2 connections at rear, then it is hot and cold fill, if only 1 connection, then it is cold fill only.

Washing machine stops mid cycle and lights start flashing

Drain the water by lowering the hose into a bucket or something and then try it on spin, if it spins o/k then you probably have blocked pump or filter.
The filter is located in the large black hose that is fastened to the bottom of the drum, remove and clean.
Hopefully this will solve the problem.
Plz rate this solution.

I have a hotpoint aquarius 6kg washing machine, i need to cancel a progeamme and drain the washing machine as their is a sleeve caught in the door and water is coming out but don't know how to please...

hiya
if the model starts with wm then you should set the timer knob just before a spin setting and it will empty out.

if the model starts with wma,few or wf then you will have to hold in the start button as this will cancel the current cycle and should start to drain.

hope this helps
