IT IS THE SAME WITH ANY WIFI HUB. 32 AND 4G MOBILE DATA CONNECTIONS WORK FINE. IT IS JUST THE WIFI THAT WILL NOT CONNECT UNLESS VERY CLOSE TO THE HUB.
Hi.
Sounds very much like the wifi channel is busy.
type 192.168.0.1 into your browser bar (or whatever your code might be) and go to your channel settings and change to a less busy channel. There are usually 12 to 14 channels to choose from.
Download a wifi detector to your device and scan for clear channels. most of these are free and all do their job. I use Androids "Wifi Analyzer" and it works just fine.
Find a channel with low clutter and select this as your main user channel, save it and exit. (you can do this as many times as you like)
It sounds a bit complicated but when you've done it once, you will think it's easy.
With only 14 channels, they can get cluttered in built up areas but the chances of all of them being "full" are slim since few people know this.
Providing you don't mess around with any more settings you will be OK. Try this first, if it doesn't work, you still know how to change channels.....but I think it will.
All the best Red.
Testimonial: "Thanks for the ideas, but I have tried all your suggestions & I still have the same problem. I now charge my phone next to the hub so that at least once a day it can up date & synch. However I cannot do any mobile wifi work unless I go on via GSM data. Surely Huawei have some sort of customer service that can advise on this? There are thousands of users suffering the same as me."
Never found a decent Customer service anywhere !
I can't help thinking it's the wifi adapter on the device that's faulty. Since the GSM works fine and you can't connect to any router (wifi & GSM are different systems).
Sometimes we buy a dud. I've had a couple of early tablets that would drop out at 5 feet away.
The manufacturers these days assume the customer will just buy another, later model !! Arrogance at top level. Sorry I couldn't help this time. Best of luck with Cust.Serv. Red.
