I plugged in ibanez sdgr 5 string bass into a peavey 300 monitor and now the guitar wont work.. can somebody tell me what happened and how to fix it?

I'm pretty sure that model has active - battery powered - pickups, and yours is flat, so no output at all. The battery would be under the smaller cover plate on the back

I plugged the guitar into the peavey thing (which I had used before with the same guitar) I plucked a couple of times, a kinda sizzle sound came out of the speakers - then it was dead.

I've seen comments that you get a crackle sound with a failing battery, so try replacing it. Then if no improvement, try another cord

The guitar was made at the Saein Plant, Korea in February, 2005.

Depending on the exact model number and condition, it would sell for approx US$600-900. They are quite well regarded.

Replace it with the same size as the original and the original type. The 100 sounds right for the E. Make sure it is the SAME type string as there are non magnetic for some guitars and if you have magnetic pickups the bronze types won't work. There are also round wound, flat wound and some are flattened on one side. You need to make sure the replacement is exact type. Take sample of old to show store clerk.

Here is the contact info you need:http://www.peavey.com/support/contactinfo/ Tell them the problem and they will advise you as to whether or not you will be able to repair it yourself. Without troubleshooting it myself I would guess that there is a part blown in the preamp circuit. I don't know for sure but if it involves a surface mount component the circuit board may have to be replaced if there is one.
