SOURCE: motor fires off great and run good but at full
i had a similar problem with my merc., turned out to be overheating due to a worn water pump impeller. It would overheat and die, then after it cooled down, would restart. Check to see if you are getting a good stream of water out of the, for lack of a better term, "****", usually located at the bottom of the powerhead, on the rear of the motor. If it\'s just dribbling, dripping, or dry you need a new impeller.

Depending on the year model you may be able to adjust the mixture leaner for higher altitude. That adjustment was traditionally out of the very top of the carb pointing straight at you. Screw it in(gently- it's not a wood screw). Then out 1/2 turn at altitude.
