    the symptoms you are experiencing could be caused by a bad connection. another thing is if there are any other phones plugged into other extensions unplug them and test the phone in question . If it works ok then plug the other phones in one by one testing each time for dial tone . This isolates the cause of the fault being from a phone you have plugged in or from the phone line.

If I understand you correctly, when you leave the handset in the cradle and press a line, you can hear the dial tone. But, if you lift the handset and then select a line you don't hear anything through the headset. If this is correct, I suspect the handset is damaged, the cord is damaged, or if you're lucky, the clips may not be plugged all the way in on both sides. If you have another phone that is the same, you can switch handsets to test this theory.

Hello,

Make sure that you have your telephone line from the wall jack plugged into the port on the fax that says "LINE" and that your telephone is plugged into EXT.

All your cables and jacks seem like they are working since your phone gets a dial tone, the onyl thing could be that the wires are mixed or the modem on the fax is broken.

Replaced battery in handset. Got a dial tone and all was well. Picked up handset later in the day and it was dead. Unplugged and reattached everything - no luck.
Try taking batteries out, but also unplug base station. The aim is to disperse all power in the phone so that it resets itself. I would leave everything unplugged for 24 hours and then reassemble and see if the problem has gone. Its worked for me loads of times with different electrical appliances. Hope that helps.

if you can get dial tone with another phone, look into manual for any instructions, usually a toll free number for help. ( BEST ) otherwise take phone back for exchange. may be problem in the board.

Your phone is broken, the only solution is to replace it. Call Uniden Customer Service and they should be able to help you. 1-800-297-1023. ( I'm serious, there is no way you can fix this problem with out opening the base unit up and replacing a bad transistor)

Hi John, It sounds as if your base has gone bad. If you have more than one handset on the system and they both are failing then its your base. You could possibly send your base in for repair or look for a cheap replacement base with handset. Wish I had a quick fix for you, but it sounds like a problem electronically and not a setting.

Sending a fax
First make sure that the fax button has been pushed and is llit...

The 2820 should have a handset. In order to use manual transmission (when you get to hear all the beeps and whistles) you will need to load the document then pick up the handset. then dial the number, when you hear the recieving fax tone then hit the start button.

The 2820 should also have a hook hold button pressing this will allow you to hear the dial tone and the numbers you dial along with the receiving fax tone. If you dont hear anything when you press this button then you may want to use the volume buttons to increase the volume.

Also remember that if you have not picked up the handset or pressed he hook/hold button the unit will use automatic mode, which is to say that all you will do is load the document, dial the number, and then press the start button.
