TV screens can be replaced, but it is a tedious job since you have to disassemble the entire TV including the bezel around the screen in order to get to the mounting screws. Google "replacement TV screens" to find a vendor.

SOURCE: TV turns off and then on again every five to ten minutes!

Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptoms.

You have a few choices:

1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 - 45 minutes so the TV can discharge and reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty by extended plan, go that route.

3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you red light blinking codes, circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

SOURCE: samsung less than year old, sound but black screen

lizau2011, This is probably a premature failure in one of the power supplies inside the unit. If unit is under warranty you need to contact the Samsung people to get it repaired. Bye for now. louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com

SOURCE: I WAS WATCHING MY SAMSUNG

This fault is due to leakage of electrolytic capacitors in the vertical stage that is why top retrace lines are visible over the picture,if you are technical person check the capacitors in the vertical stage by replacing the same.

SOURCE: Samsung Model 860 LCD TV.

If the screen is black and stays black, no sign of life at all, you may have one of many tv's with faulty capacitors on the Power Supply Board. Capacitors are responsible for distributing specific amounts of power to a tv's components. That would explain why you have sound but no picture. Most likely, capacitors that send power to the screen have failed.

You have a few options. The first and most obvious is to have it fixed by a pro. The second would be to replace the faulty PSB. The third option would be to replace individual capacitors.

Good luck

Let me know if I can help further.

Hi, my tv that has back lights and sound but no picture. I recently bought a t-con board installed it yet it still does not work. what may be the possible solution to fix it. Thanks!

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

My Samsung un46eh5300f keeps turning on and off

Based on the class action suit against Samsung, it's likely the capacitors buldging. My TV purchased in late 2007 was a "victim" and the tv did the turn on/off with no pic or sound. There is a limited number of tv models and now a March 2013 time limit. To see if your TV is one that qualifies for a free inhome replacement, look at these links:

www.samsung.com/capacitorsettlement/

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2012/10/how-samsung-spent-300-fixing-my-out-of-warranty-tvs-click-of-death/ (shows pictures, model numbers, etc.)

The Samsung repair was quick, but I had to get the TV off the wall mount and ready for the repair. They don't take it down or do any of the cable/line connections. If you are unsure if your model is one that qualifies, call the special 800 number given in the class action ruling.

My Samsung 47 has a black film covering 1/2 the screen for about

Samsung only makes TVs that last 2 years, mine also has the same problem. Throw it away and buy a cheaper disposable TV, despite all the hype Samsung is just another cheap and nasty manufacturer who uses its customers as product testers. Why do you think they keep changing model numbers every week ?

White dots appearing on Samsung TV screen and multipling each day

It seems you might have an issue with the dmd board. Go to the menu, and if the dots still show on the menu, the issue definitely is with the dmd board but if they don't come up on the menu, the issue will be with the video board.
