HOW TO CHANGE NEEDLE POSITION ON 6003 - Sewing Machines

As long as the display indicates the change, the needle will move. The needle is not moving with pressing the needle position button because the needle is too close to the fabric .... if the needle is raise up by turning the fly wheel, it will then move according to the number indicated on the display for needle position.

If you have the owner's manual, it is supposedly called a "Reverse Key."

Look for a button near the needle with an arrow pointing backward.

Hopefully you have a manual that shows how to replace the bulb. Online Elna manuals have a fee.

Check to see if your needle is bent.

some machine have a button hole lever that has to be pulled
down, before they work.
are you using the button hole foot?
if the machine is mechanical, are all the dials set for button hole?
if the machine is electronic are all the settings correct?
also change the needle
if you have the button hole foot on & the button hole lever is down
& a new needle,, the it is possible that the machine needs to be
checked to see if there is something wrong with the buttonhole
function

This is usually what happens if the bobbin case gets dislodged, its just held in place by a magnet but if you have a jam up, often gets moved out of position. Remove top metal plate, take out bobbin, and have a look at the bobbin case, should be two metal markers or red dotsmfront side that align. Lift the case out by grasping edge and lifting up and towards you, clean underneath with the little brush, remove any jammed up threads, then return case to position, aligning the marks.

skipping stitches can be the needle is damaged--flat side of needle goes to the back side of machine
normally when the needle is hitting the inside of the bobbin the timing is usually off, & can only be fixed by a sewing machine repair tech

1 - Loosen the knurled thumb screw on the right side of the needle clamp.

2 - The old needle wil probably fall out, if not you can simply pull it straight down to remove it.

3 - Slide a new needle up into the needle clamp.

4 - Tighten the knurled thumb screw on the right side of the needle clamp with your right hand while holding the needle up with your right hand.
