Hi
Having downloaded the manual for your Blackberry, which you can do here (be patient its a big file !):-
http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/41694/BlackBerry_Curve_Series-User_Guide-1319567078354-7.1-en.pdf
and looked through it, I am fairly sure that there is no setting on the phone at all for disabling voice mail. This was set up originally by your service provider and you will have to contact them to get voice mail disabled.
Probably not the one you were hoping for but I think this answer is correct.
Voice mail is nothing to do with the phone, its a service provided by your mobile network provider. Usually the phone number is 123 or 121 or something like that. once you ring that number you'll have a menu system to create a new greeting message.
all you have to do is ring your service provider they will do it over the phone(activate it) then give u a number to ring to do your message too others and check the mail
Some phones will not let you set voice notes as a ringtone. If you get Motorola Phone tools, (available through motorolas website for download about $30.00) it has a ringtone creater that you could use to create a ringtone from a recording.
It also is syncronization software that will allow you to transfer files and back up your contacts.
