If you have a access to an AC voltmeter, measure the two slanted connections in the wall socket for ~220 volts. If near zero, measure at the load side of the dual breakers for the same voltage. If still at or near zero, one of the breakers has gone south. Replace the pair of breakers.
If you measured 220 volts as above, then the problem is within the dryer--probably a burned out heating element or open thermal fuse. Major tear-down to find and fix as the heating element is behind the drum.

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

Will not heat

Check your house fuse/circuit breaker panel. The dryer runs off 2 circuits -one for heat and one for the motor.

Whirlpool Imperial Electric Dryer wont heat up

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

I have a Maytag Neptune Elect dryer MDE9700, that won't heat. It worked fine until yesterday. A breaker kicked off, I reset the breaker and now dryer will work it just doesn't heat up. There is no error...

Your heat strip has burned out, shorted against the frame, and kicked the breaker. Take off the back, it is not hard to replace. Be sure all breakers are turned off.

Dryer won't dry

Without a meter there is not much you can do but a couple things to try , 1st turn the breaker off , when turning it back on push the breaker switch firmly in toward the panel then check for heat . the breaker may be running only half power and not supplying the heater [bad breaker] , the next thing is the temp. fuse on the heating element case. take the ;arge back panel off of the unit , you should see the element case on the right , it should have 4-6 red wires going to it , the fuse is located at the top of the case , remove the 2 red wires from it and slide them together then use electrical tape to tape them carefully power unit back up and test for heat , if it is working now you most likely have an exhaust problem , check the airflow where unit exhaust. let me know if you have any other questions.
