It sounds like the internal power supply might have died. Have you tested the cable and ensure it doesn't have a short?

First, you will have to define what you mean by "hot to touch" ie.:
can you or can you not hold your hand on it for a few moments.

SOURCE: Moved Sony Bravia TV, now will not turn on at all

The warranty on this set should be for 1 year. Return it for warranty service. Unless the set was dropped, moving it should not have effected anything. DO NOT open the set sas that would void the warranty.

SOURCE: sony bravia kdl-52w3000, turn tv on, no picture or

Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.

To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).

SOURCE: Power Outage Problems Sony Bravia 32" LCD TV

try cycling the power (unplug 2 minutes) and plug in and wait 30 seconds and turn back on. if this doesn't work, could have been a surge, your protector should have saved it, but could have been through cable or something. surge protectors will guarantee no damage for several years, check with the manufacturer maybe they'll cover the repair.

Pc in problems no signals sony bravia klv-32 ex300

Plug your video cable from your computer into a known working monitor first to make sure the cable / computer video work.

If this works, unplug all cables from your tv, except the power, and plug in the pc video. Make sure to use the menu to select the correct input (should say "pc" unless you are using hdmi cable, then you select the hdmi input (hdmi1, hdmi2, etc).

Sony Bravia KDL series 52"

Check the fuses on the power board. there is one fuse on primary side and one on secondary side.
Take of back panel and follow plug into the tv.where it ends is the power board.always use caution.the capacitors in there hold high voltage even after unplugged for a couple of days.Discharge capacitors before servicing the board.

How to make WD MyBook essential 1Tb work on sony bravia EX300 LCD TV ? I tried to connect the external hard drive on my sony dvd player and it appears on the tv screen that the USB device is not...

this will not work by it self you will either need to buy a computer with media software that will support your hard drive or a DVR that will support you hard drive.
the hard drive connected to the device you have tried to connect to are not smart devices they will not support a stand alone external drive even though there is a usb port.

Hdmi port stopped working on sony bravia KDL-32L4000, when I connect my ps3 or direct tv trhough hdmi cables I will just get a blank screen that will say no signal.

I have a Sony Bravia model KDL-46s5100 that had the same problem. All HDMI ports stopped working. I don't know why this works but unplug the TV for about 30 sec, then plug it back in and hold down the power button on the tv for 10 seconds. Like I said I don't know why this works but it worked for me. Good luck.
