Electric hedge trimmers have 2 switches to press before it runs
one is the trigger that you pull and the other is in the handle that you hold in your left hand
both have to be on before it starts
it is a safety feature to stop operators cutting off their fingers

Testimonial: "I press the 2 switches but it still want starts what is the next step to get it starts.."

I have an 8104 type 7 black and decker hedge trimmer. It freezes up durning the cutting or just squeezing the trigger. Makes a loud buzzing noise. Almost like it is jammed and there is nothing jammed in...

Did you ever oil the cutters since you have owned it? Try this spray some PB Blaster on the cutters let it soak and then try running it. If you can't find that stuff just try some motor oil, pour it on let it soak and give it a whirl. Good Luck...

My husband got a 18"

1. There is probably a hook type affair on the back of the trimmer that you are supposed to route the extension through to keep the plug from falling out.
2. I would never do what I am going to tell you for safety reasons. It is possible to get a piece of cord, a tie wrap or a hose clamp, adjust it to fit over the trigger and around the handle so that when you pull the trigger, you slip this tight fitting device over it and it keeps it held in tightly enough so you don't have to keep your hand on it. Be advised that this is dangerous in that if you drop the trimmer or hit the electric cord, the trimmer will continue to run uncontrollably until you can get to the power, slip the device off of the trigger or the trimmer cuts the electric cord.
It can be done, but as you can see, it can be very dangerous. These things can amputate fingers.

Wont run when you pick it up or give it gas

Make sure your fuel line, with filter has slack to move around in fuel tank.

Remington Axcess hedge trimmer wont run at all.

Check your fuel lines. It is probably getting air into the system. Also check inside the gas tank to make sure the fuel pick up line is still attached.

If you need more assistance please provide an exact model number and I can better help you.

My electric B&D hedge trimmer quit working. It is not the power cord. What could it be and can it be fixed?

Obviously, disconnect power from the mains...

Something has come loose inside the unit. You can disassemble the unit. Follow the power wires from the pigtail to the switch/trigger (<-- Most likely point of failure), then to the motor. Also, triple-check there is not reset button (a pop-out fuse of sorts) on that unit.
