Yesterday I turned my volume down to zero on my tv and it stopped working, would not go back up. Could not use the remote, I had to manually turn it up on the side of the tv and it would just automatically go back to zero. The menu button would not work etc, remote stopped working in general. (Not the batteries)Then I unplugged it and when I turned it back on the volume kept going up and up to 100 and you cannot turn it down. I turned it off and left it. Help! Never seen this before. I have a plasma, 42 inch, 6 months old.

I have come across this problem with my own Samsung television...I tried many suggestions but always the same ie "no different" but I noticed that the television would be working okay then not..
Now I think the solution is down to mobile phones and connectivity to bluetooth Or wife. So if you have any devices with wife or bluetooth turn of anything that either broadcasts or receives any type of signal including S - beam & S - Pen. ...it worked for me and I hope you find it works also then you can tell others on here...

There are two possibilties, the buttons on your TV are stuck on one position or your control inteface board is damaged. I would need mopre info to rectify.

See if the minus volume button on the TV is stuck. With the TV off press the various buttons while keeping your ears close to them. Each will produce a distinct click when you press them, confirm if the volume - key also produces the same sound - if not the key is defective or stuck.

I have a Mitsubishi 73"

i would suspect your control buttons on your front panel on the set have become shorted. specifically the volume buttom down. This is freezing you control functions. like someone is holding the volume down button all the time. or intermitantly. this cuircit board is on front of the set. I have seen this problem a few times at the shop. The common repair is to replace that button assembly cuircit board. I believe the last time it cost the customer around 85 dollars, but like all things depends on the part and the technician that puts it in.

Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Before replacing it, try a reset to this set, and then check.
There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.

Try removing the batteries from the remote after you set the volume, just to determine if the remote is causing the problem or not. I have seen stuff spilled on remotes and they just go crazy.

The volume on my tv goes down all by itself. I turn it up and it goes right back down to 0. With remote or manually, does the same thing. Also, can't turn tv off. have to unplug it to turn it off. Any...

Try taking the batteries out of the remote or taking it out of range from the tv. Then try turning the volume up on the Tv manually. If the volume continues to go down on its own then it is a problem with the tv set itself. If the problem stops with the remote out of the picture then it is a remote problem. As far as powering the unit off may be a similar issue. If there is an on/off button on the tv and it works to turn the power on but not off then it is a tv issue. If the remote turns the tv on but not off it may be something as simple as the wrong code being programmed into the remote(universal remote) or if it is the factory remote it may be an issue with that. You could try getting a new universal remote that works with your unit.

TV Volume turns down by itself - Philips 29PT8319 Matchline 27"

Most likely the volume down button on the front of the TV or the switch that it activates is sticking. Should be an easy fix otherwise.
