If you keep running out of fuel chances are you will overheat and or damage fuel pump and then you can fix the level {fuel level sender }sender since it is incorporated with the fuel pump module

When my fuel gauge gets down to a quarter tank that car dies like the computer is telling the car it's out of gas but theirs still a quarter tank of gas . What's wrong with it

Then it sounds like the gauge is wrong. The float for the gas tank could be sticking at that point, or there could be an electrical issue causing the signal to the gauge to be off. I would think fuel level sending unit, unless you can verify there is in fact gas in the tank when the car shuts off. If that is the case, then it may be an issue with the gas pump suction getting air at that level and not being able to pump that last bit.

Sounds like at 1/4 reading, the actual reading of the fuel should be empty.Your gauge sending unit in the tank is most likely defective. Many are on these.

1998 Ford zx2 Escort Gas gauge

its probably the gauge in the tank if they put the pump in and not moved the wiring when fitting it get court on the float so does not move, had this before, but if it been like this for a year i would remove the gauge as its not been moving about to keep the resistance board clean so would need to be cleaned up, oil spray and a cotton bud should clean it up ok with out damaging the board.

My fuel gauge was just touching the red section and I put $40 of gas in (just over12 gal) and the gauge just moved to between the 1/4 and 1/2. do I need to replace my gauge?

These usually have large tanks, although the guage is attached to the fuel sending unit located in the gas tank. Essentially a level in the tank that tell the guage where the level of fuel is. I would start with the sending unit, usually sold with the fuel pump.

Regards.

I put a new fuel pump in now when it gets on a quarter tank it acts like running out of gas when i go up hills around turns

You probably put the sending unit in pointing the wrong way. Easy to do. When this happens the float level sits on a raised part of the tank. Only going down to around a 1/4 tank level on the gauge. It will have to be moved to work right. The gauge that is. The pump will still work weather you fix it or not.

2006 Chevy Trailblazer fuel gauge stays on empty

Could be a
1. Fuse - not likely, I'd expect other instrument panel problems.
2. Broken wire from fuel gauge
3. Bad fuel sender in fuel tank. Normally requires dropping the tank.

Vehicle is not that old, would think it is still under warranty?

2000 Ford Expedition Starting problem

If the fuel gauge drops off when you are driving then its a sending unit problem that means you have to drop the tank and replace the float and sending unit. This is a common problem for alot of cars because of cheap gas. If you have to drop the tank check the fuel pump canster for dirt because of cheap gas. Replace the fuel pump strainer and fuel pump filter. If the car or truck has about 100,000 miles you might want to change the fuel pump at that time also just to cover your back. If you take it to a shop they will charge you at least $900 to start. But if you do it yourself it will cost you about $200 dollars maybe alittle more.
