Sorry, but my experience with CD, DVD players and recorders has taught me that, once the trays refuse to open, the unit is history. Kiss it goodbye. . .

tried to load a dvd lens cleaner first in your dvd player, to remove dirt and sticky part of the cd.if still no disk, at this time you will need to check the dvd tray and assembly which the spindle motor not rotating.
Thankfully you asked it new. fixya has changed since i was last here about 4 years ago and trying to figure out how to add the 2 new ways to my old post has been annoying. It appears they changed it so the old way only works on the older versions. Heres the new ones tht should work:
1) Open DVD Tray 2) Press "MENU" 3) Press 8888 (you will find the modification interface) 4) Press "OSD" 5) Enter YOUR desire region code number 0-6. 6) Insert your Movie Disc. OR if above doesnt work try: 1) Open Disc tray 2) Enter: 9735 3)From the internal menu one of the items on the menu is region code. Click on it and change (zero is best then any disk will play) While entering 9735 you may see "INVALID KEY" on the TV, just ignore it and keep typing.
Look very closly to the loading tray and there should be a small hole in it get a paper clip and bend out one section and push it into the hole firmly and the tray should come out get your disk and push the tray back in.The belt or the motor that drives the tray has pooped out'
Most DVD players have a flap then the tray pushes open when it comes out. What you should do (if its already broken anyway) is, using your fingernails, pull open the flap (if there is one) and then pull out the tray manually. Pop the disk in and let it close, or just push it yourself. PUlling the tray should not damage any internal components except for the gears that move the tray, which are not related to the disk reader, power converter, or anything else.
Usually if your getting it with the MENU then your connection is weak, are you going through a VCR or some other type of device besides directly to the tv? Try hooking unit directly to the tv. Besides that, its possible you could of messed with the settings, go to the menu, go to advanced and do a reset to make sure no settings were adjusted, the disk has to be out of the tray while you do the reset.
NOTE: Make sure you DO NOT have a disk in the tray while performing the region code procedure
