before you remove old one note how deep it sits in the block , remove the old one , carefully not to push it into block , drain coolant below that level, clean any residue in hole ,put a small amount of silicone around edge of block and on freeze plug ,install it while sealant is fresh ( not hardend),you don't want to hit it in the center but use a tool or a socket that fits in freeze plug and don't beat the edges and install same depth as old one, let sealant cure 10-24 hr depending on what label says. after that fill it up and start motor looking for leaks, if leaks appear you may want to try taping it in a (LITTLE more.if this helped you please check off (helpful) on lower part of page .

Your problem is the freeze plug located between the rear of the motor and the flywheel and you need to remove the transmission to replace the freeze plug to fix your problem. Good Luck ! Michael...
Hi,
Looks like the one advises u about the coolant plug( rubber cap that stops the coolant from accessory tube ) or u have a leaking water pump is right!
The age of ur might have taken its toll to those parts!
Better check on those!
As a rule there is normaly two or three freeze plugs in the block where the engine and transmission meet. there are also two or more commonly three on each side of the block.
It is a coil on plug system. The Red or Red/Striped wire is the control of the primary winding from the ECM. The BLK/ORG wire is the ground side of the primary winding. The BLK/BLU wire is the secondary winding wire.
ONLY USE DENSO SPARK PLUGS IN A 2000 PASSPORT. If you use aftermarket plugs, the crankshaft sensor tends to detect it as a signal to the computer, and for some reason it resets the computer. Seen it happen more than once.
