The rotor and wheel bearing come out as an assembly. First put the axle nut back on tight before you do any hammering unless you want to put on a new wheel bearing anyway. If you hammer it with the nut off you risk the chance of separating the bearings in the hub and destroying it. Dont forget to remove the 3 or 4 bolts that hold the wheel bearing in from the back side. Once you get the hub broke loose from the truck then remove the axle nut and remove the assembly. Be careful not to break the abs sensor or wire. To remove the rotor from the hub place the assembly on the bench and drive out all of the lug bolts and the rotor will drop right off.)) I agree with this, good answer, and easy on the hammer.
Your hub is a complete unit including wheel flange and bearing. Thje axle passes through the assembly. You will find three twelve point 13mm bolts that go into the rear of the hub through the steering knuckle. To remove the assembly, Loosen those three bolts, run them out part way and use a socket you don't want (you will destroy it) Put the socket on each bolt and use a heavy hammer to drive the assembly out of the knuckle. Alternate sides so it does not bind. use lots of solvent on the hub parting surface. One tip: Disconnect the tie rod end so the assembly is easy to turn from side to side. The hub assembly is only rebuildable in a factory. It is replaced as a unit. While you have it apart, always check the axle universal for binding or play. If you remove the axle for any reason, when putting it back in don't drag it on the bottom of the tube, The seal is inside the tube next to the gear set. Dragging the axle will knock the seal out.
hear is the perseger for removing the rotor. if the rotor it stuck to the hub use a large soft mallet or a 2X4 and a larg hammer place the wood on the eafge of the rotor to kept from marking the braking surface. then hit the wood with the hammer.
jack up vehicle wheel in question and install jack stand.remove wheel. Unbolt 2 caliper bracket bolts and pry caliper assembly up off brake rotor and hang off to the side with bungee.remove rotor . remove large axle nut. From the back of the hub remove hub bolts most commonly 15mm.Using a slide hammer style wheel puller the hub can be removed. if all you have is a big hammer hit the hub back and forth side to side until it can be removed. Bolt in new hub assembly and torque bolts.Install axle nut and torque. install rotor and caliper. reinstall wheel and torque.
mcdevito75 here, They should be knockoffs, That castle nut is holding the hub / Bearing assembly to the axle, and once removed that nut has to be replaced with a new one, so it"s not reasonable that nut has to come off to get the rotors off. Try, remove the tire and lift the caliper assembly off the rotor, use penetrating oil, liquid wrench, W D 40 around the lugs as they may be part of the rotor assembly, Then with a hammer tap moderately around the edge of the rotor to loosen it, keep the gear in Neautrel so you can turn the rotor while tapping with the hammer and use that penetrating oil around the lug studs and around the hub. The rotor should fit around the hub where that nut is and thru the lug studs that hold the tire on the axle.
You can download a PDF
manual for your chipper at ( www3.sears.com ) Type your model number
like this ( 247.795890 ) It will show you a parts list for it and also
there will be a place that says "Manuals" click on that and it will
download to your computer where you can either save it or print it out or both
you can also spray a good amount of W-4 or any kind of rust solvent where the disc sits on the hub. Let it stay for a while make sure it is soaked, make sure the car is in Neutral not in park!! What you would want to do then is hammer with a 4LBS plastic mallet from the inside out of the rotor by rotating it in three to four different positions. Repeat this process a couple of times and it will come off. Make sure there is no locking washer on the wheel bolts, if so you will have to cut them off. Trust me i just changed mine two weeks ago and it worked fine!
