Have you got all the usb drivers installed

  • steve
    steve May 27, 2016

the usb port worked with a hp laserjet 5p

  • Bill Boyd May 28, 2016

probably did so but with a new printer , the computer has to allocate a new usb port for the printer and that requires a driver set up as it registers a different printer

HP LaserJet 1022 is a "host-based" printer so it must be connected to a PC. Load the driver on PC first and connect the USB cable when software tells you to do so.

Will not work on a Linksys print server.

LaserJet 1022N & LaserJet 1022NW have "special" HP print servers that can support HP host based printers.

HP Photosmart Wireless e-All-in-One B100 series printer won't work with USB cable. I have installed all the software from the CD but at the point where it asks you whether you want to connect it to a USB...

The problem is caused by you connecting the printer before the software asks you to.

Uninstall all HP software, restart the PC and start again. Do NOT connect the printer until the install prog tells you to.

I have used the printer (hp deskjet f4180) for over a year now. but recently when I connect it to my pc (hp windows vita), i get an error message that the usb fevice is not recognised. I have tried to...

If I am right, the error message should be "USB Device is not recognized...." not "Fevice" :-). This happens with most usb devices when there's connection problem, i.e. the USB cables or the USB Ports or the USB interfaces.
First of all try the printer with the same cable on another machine to make sure it works, if it doesn't work, then you'll need to replace the USB cable or try with another cable.

You can also try cleaning he USB Ports and the cables usb jack with a brush dampen with alcohol. Also clean the usb ports on the computer with the same materials mentioned.

These will definitely help you find out the culprit and take the necessary actions, like replacing or switching the usb port.
To simply find out if it's the computer or the printer or the cable, try the printer on another computer.
Note: If it's not recognized once it's connected, then the issue is not with the drivers... If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi, I have an HP Lazerjet 1010 printer which i have been using for over 3 years with no problem at all. I tried to print something a few days ago and I suddenly got a 'USB cannot be recognised' message as...

Hi!

To resolve the issue 'USB cannot be recognised' you need to check the bios to make sure all USB ports are enabled. To enable the ports right click on ‘my computer’ and then click ‘properties’ and when the properties window opens, click on the ‘hardware’ tab at the top of the window. Now click on ‘device manager’. It should bring up a list of hardware on your system. Please check if any of them have a little exclamation mark next to them. If there is one by universal serial bus controllers, double click on it and select the driver tab then click update driver. It should automatically search for the drivers and install it.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Laptop fails to recognise printer (HP J4680)

Have you tried temporarily disabling the mac address filtering?

If you have the option to print out a diagnostic sheet then this will clarify if that is the problem.

I have an orange livebox and I had to press button 1 on the livebox in order to temp disable MAF so that the router could pair properly with the HP printer.

Hope this helps.

Usb device not recognised HP 1005

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Hp printer f2180...usb device not recognise

Mate, I gave up completely for the night when I got mine and had similar issues. Some help though.....
First, make sure the USB Port is a 'powered' port (i.e. one that's in your PC or Laptop and not from a plug in HUB). That's needed. Secondly, the install software is ****, so I ended up installing the drivers by downloading them and the install tool from the following website (you can't do it form the CD):
http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_product=3177559&h_tool=software&h_lang=en
Just select the Printer Only driver. Once done, this doesn't present the device to your PC as a printer, so you have to go into the Control-Panel / Printers and Faxes / Add Printer and add it manually. you'll be asked to select the PORT for the device, and you need to select USB Virtual Printer Port. Then it will just go through whatever it goes through and install it. When you next Reboot, it will then install all of the other stuff to link it to the generic HP software it loaded off the CD. Seems to do that all by itself. Good Luck.

HP DiskJet Drivers

Dear AJP82

As soon as you start the printer when your computer workin. the computer should recognise . If Yes recognising then you can down load the compatible driver from Win xp CD or from HP website. Else try changing printer cable with other cable. Or if printer allows parallel or USB try either of them.
