HOW DO YOU ELIMINATE BLINKING ON HANDHELD UNIT

OK here it is right from Sharp's service center support.
The unit is reporting power surge and if the usual unplugging does not fix it then there is damage to the power unit. I mentioned that all fuses were OK but they still say that the fuses being intact does not eliminate the supply from damage

The flashing lights are operating from the low voltage part of the power supply but the main transformer is what is damaged. The buttons are operated from this transformer and as they do not respond then this is the area of damage to the supply.The unit will have to be taken to a service center.

Faulty Blinker unit or fault in the blinker switch.

If the red led is blinking fast (8x/second) the power supply is likely damaged and the unit will need to be serviced. If blinking slow, the most likely cause would be a shorted speaker connection. To help find the cause, unplug everything including the power and speakers. Connect only the power and try to turn the unit on. If the light doesn't blink, you know you have a shorted connection. Power off and connect the inputs and then power back on. If the light is not blinking, you know the problem is with an output connection. Just find the bad connection by process of elimination.

You're supposed to hold the handheld remote a few inches away....press and hold which button on the car you want to program, wait for it to blink slowly then continue to hold and then press and hold the handheld remote for about 90seconds until light blinks quickly on the car. That should do it!

If the LED is blinking randomly it is normal. If it is blinking rapidly you have interference from somewhere. To eliminate any interference start unplugging anything electrical and watch the LED. Some things will interfere that you wouldn't even think of like a heater in an aquarium. Check everything especially in the garage.

Relace control board.

In your "options' then "security" menu, there should be an option for "wipe handheld".... it will then ask you to type the word "blackberry", then the unit reboots and resets... :)
