SOURCE: my digital recorder wont work it says its full but

You will lose your data, but using the FORMAT command while not connected to a computer will restore the default settings and let it work again.

SOURCE: Sony ICD-UX70/UX80 digital recorder...memory full problem

I solved the problem by connecting my Sony IC Recorder to the USB port on my McBook Pro computer and then emptying the trash can on the Mac computer. Visually (flashing red indicator light) and audibly (the recorder's sound that indicates something being erased), it was clear that mp3 files were finally, really being erased on the Sony recorder even though the recorder's own screen display had previously shown only empty folders and no files. Dragging files to the trash can doesn't really erase them unless you also empty the trash. All dragging to the trash can does is somehow mark the files in a way that, unfortunately, makes them invisible to Sony's file detection system.

SOURCE: Olympus ds-30 deleted file recovery

First things first: DO NOT take any more videos or audio with the recorder that you want to recover files from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of voice memo file recovery.

Then connect your device to a PC, and have a try of Photo Recovery (also recover audio, voice memos, video files etc), a data recovery program which is good at recovering media files lost. If you are Mac OS X users, turn to Data Recovery for Mac.

Lastly, I hope you good luck. Again you should remember - the more you use your recorder, the less likely you may be able to recover the deleted files back! So STOP using the device ASAP. Regards

I have a brand new THOMSON XC0380 Voice recorder. I cannot locate any file containing the "setup" process as described in the instructions. Folder A has a .VOC file that opened contains nothing...

The Thomson voice recorders appear to be the same as those of an RCA series. There is a software download for a 512MB RCA VR5220 recorder that might work on your 64MB one at http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/audio/voicerecorders/?sku=VR5220, or you might find something useful elsewhere on the rca site.

Can I save a WAV file to MP3 format

There is a free program called Media Monkey - it will convert WAV format to Mp3 (actually, it will convert any non-protected music file type - it's very dynamic). It may take a while to figure out how to do the first one, but it will get easier after that.

First, you have to plug the Thomson in to your computer, double-click "My Computer," and then double-click the icon of the Thomson. There should be a folder called "Voice or "REC". If it doesn't show up, select in the window: Tools --> Folder Options --> View --> select Show Hidden Files and folders. Now the right folder should show up. Then, drag the WAV recording to your desktop (or your "My Music" fodler - whichever works best for you), and the computer should make a copy of the WAV recording onto your computer.

Now open up Media Monkey and it should, after several minutes find all music files on your computer, including the WAV recording. Then right-click the WAV recording, and it should have an option to covnert the file type - convert to mp3, and you're done.

Good luck!

Thomson dti 6300 16 top tv version box tuner works but programe lbrary where recordingd are available has frozen cannot access or delete

Hi! This is not a great solution and a bit long winded, but aimed at those who've lost the receipt! Start by recording a new programme - the box should still record. Now the corrupt recording is not the first one in the library. When you press library now, all appears to be well. You can find which is the corrupt recording by scrolling down slowly. The corrupt one should be the one with no thumbnail picture (plus it'll be the one that freezes the box up again!). Restart the box agan and press library. If you have recordings before the corrupt one you should be able to scroll very quickly past it and delete them now. Now the corrupt programme is at the bottom of the library list - you can't delete it but at least you can avoid it now...

Like I said far from ideal, but it works on mine. Still no word from Thomson. Hope this helps.

Frozen hard drive

If you have a Thomson DT16300, here's a handy fix that address freeze ups, lack of reception and problems on your Hard Disk:

goto MENU screen
goto SETUP screen
goto HELP screen
At HELP screen, Enter 1397 - this accesses the engineer panel - you can reformat the HDD in this menu - you will lose all recorded programmes and planned recordings but it clears locked or corrupted files

OR - at the HELP screen, press the GREEN button

On the lower half of the screen youwill see 3 options:

Blue - Reformat HDD - clears all the memory/HDD - useful if you have a corrupted file - you will lose all recorded programmes though

Red - reset the whole box to factory settings - good if you have a locked box or reception problems or cannto scan for new channels. It goes back to when you bought the box, so you will have to input favourites and planned recordings again

Yellow - Software revert - allows you to go back to the previous software driver - you may lose new functions, but you can always restore it back again using the same feature
