I just bought a Jayco trailer with an Atwood 6 gallon water heater which works on both electric and gas. I was able to locate the bypass valve and made sure hot water was in the tank, however I only get...

Check your by-pass again. Cold water enters bottom fitting/line, and hot comes out the top fitting/line. Any valve in between should be closed, and any valve going in at bottom should be open, as well as open at top. There are a few different by-pass set-ups, so without knowing which one you have, this should guide you somewhat.
If you can describe what you see there, I can probably guide you through it.

Have a 2005 coach w/Atwood DSI-RV 6 gal water heater. Gas lights, heater fires and gets hot, but doesn't transfer the hot water through the lines to the sink faucets. [email protected]

You need to check by-pass valve(s) on back of tank for proper position. You need cold open going in to bottom tank fitting, and hot open at top. If any valves in between those 2 lines via "T"'s, turn them to off position.

Cold water runs through the faucet shower but no water at all through hot water side

If no hot water at any faucet, and your sure water in water heater is hot, check by-pass at back of tank for wrong positioning.

RV water heater problem: my water heater ignities, when I turn on the hot water faucet there is a steady flow of water but no hot water. The bypass valve is parallel with the cold water line. I can only...

The first question is this
From the outside of your RV is the water heater square or is it longer than it is tall?

If it is square it is a Suburban
If it is longer than it is tall then it is an Atwood
Forest River mostly uses Suburban

How long do you let the unit burn/run before you try the hot water? From a cold start it will take - depending on the outdoor temp. & the gallon size of your water heater, 15 to 30 minutes for the water to get hot.

If you have waited this long then I would suspect the bypass valve is in the wrong position

ATWOOD WATER HEATER

you will need to have a 115 curent for electric, run a line off the panel box, turn off water to the house drain it down, disconnect the lp gas line and cap it off, remove the water heater, install the new heater run the cold side water to the cold side {blue on the heater} the hot side to the red, take the cover plate off on the water heater run the wires, hook up the groung wire then the red and white wires to the wires comming off the panel box,, fill the water heater with water have a open faucet on the hot side, and bleed the air out, DO NOT TURN ON ELECTRIC TILL THE AIR IS OUT OF TANK AND WATER IS FLOWING THRU COMPLETELY, after you get water commming out of the faucet turn it off and turn the electric on to the water heater ,, wait about 30 min, you will have warm after an hour it will be hot and you are done,, good luck write me if you have questions, [email protected]
