AEG 40850 - pump noise and running for long time, eventually showing error 20

When starting a program the dishwasher will drain normally. After draining there is a low click/switch sound, and followed by a more noisy pumping sound, which will continue for a long time until the machine fails with error code 20. It does not fill new water into the machine. The sound stops if door is opened, but starts again when closed.

There is a problem with drainage. Check the drain line connected to the disposal or peatrap. Make sure it is not plugged. Otherwise you can disconnect the drain line and put a wet vac on it to try to clear the hose

SOURCE: drain pump keeps running AEG oko favorit

This seems like the anti flood system (polystireen float / micro switch) at the base of the washer is triggered,\. This puts the washer in pump out mode and stops inlet of water via the inlet solinoid. Dry the water on the base and then check for any water leaks. (pipe leak

Hi. The above machine stops mid cycle and drain/fill light is on, also error code F3E, have cleaned both hot and cold water inlet filters, also checked drain pump and drain line, all ok. Machine drains with no issues and fills with hot water, runs for a while then shuts down.
Any ideas?

Hi Jonathan,

Welcome to FixYa.

Your float may have got stuck or it's possible that you have water leaking into the bottom of the washer. In the bottom of the wash compartment, next to the drain you will find a plastic dome/mushroom (the float). You might need to rotate the bottom spray arm to see it.

Turn the washer on so that the pump starts to run, open the door and push down on the float. This should stop the pump running. When you let go of the float, if it rises back up on its own, then it's almost certain that you have water in the bottom of the washer. If this is the case please post back for further assistance. If the float stays down, then it may have simply got stuck.

Please try this simple test and post back with the results.

Regards,
BElectric

Hi
Plugged system or a jammed drain pump can cause these issues, also make sure the drain hose is not blocked. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance. Daniel

I have an AEG F55002ViOP dishwasher. It's making a strange grinding sound and showing error code 30. Can anyone advise how to solve this please.

Error "i30" means that water remains in base because leakage or overflow. In this case, in order to prevent flooding, drain pump running continuously.
When we talk about AEG dishwasher, drain pump works even the power is turned off (must be connected to the wall outlet, otherwise anti-flooding system will not work).
The noise what you heard during operation indicates that something is blocking the drain pump.
Remedy: you should first remove the water from the bottom of the dishwasher and determine leakage then check why the drain pump makes noise.

If you work around the dishwasher, you always take care that appliance must be disconnected from the power supply.

Good luck.

Aeg l14710. Hi can you help me made a decision on my six years old heavily used machine? each program can be set to show the program time but the machine will not start. the door locks. and the mac

Hello!

Probably you have foreign stuff in the drain pump or the pump worn out. Unplug the machine and unscrew the pump cap, watch for water pouring out, prepare something to catch in the water, then inspect for coins, knobs, ... . Check if the pump wheel rotates freely. screw back the cap and try to start a new wash program

AEG favorit 40850 dishwasher does not clean properly - help

under the top shelf or in the top of the machine is the water rotor. remove this and ensure none of the holes are blocked, also ensure your macine is not running on 1/2 half load as this may only activate the bottom. it should be set to full load to use both. if rotor bloackage is the problem use somthing to clear it. and also check the bottom one. also remove and clean the inner filter as debris may have got past it and getting pumped to your rotors.

I hope this was useful

Whirlpool dishwasher adg 642 not working start light flashhin 4 times

Hello Faye,
The F4 error code is a drainage error and it means that the control board did not detect a drop in the water level in the tub so it thinks it didnt drain.
The things that could cause this are a clooged filter on the pump asm, a blockage in the drain pump or hose or even a defective control board if in fact all the water has seemed to drain out of the tub. This is how ya set the diagnostic test to clear the codes and see if it reoccurs
  • Make sure the appliance is empty of water before running Diagnostics as it does not pump out before starting to fill and therefore you could overfill the appliance.
  • Open the door and set the program to the first program. (Normally rinse).
  • Turn the power off.
  • Press and hold the start button and while holding turn the power on.
  • After a little while the start button will flash, release the button.
  • Press the start button once and close the dishwasher door.
  • The machine will now run through a diagnostic routine.
  • Diagnostic takes about 20 mins.
  • The machine will stop during diagnostics if an error is found and will display the error code. If no error is found it will complete the diagnostics and end the program.
  • To exit diagnostics at any time just press and hold the start button till the program is cancelled.

    No water fill

This is a typical Anti Flood system activation. This system activates when water leaks onto the floor of the machiene due to a leak fault (pipe/hose clamp/ partly blocked pipe). The machiene automatically switches to pump out mode and stops water inlet. The anti flood system is a polystireen float / micro switch at the base of the machiene floor. Dry the floor and drectify the leak and it should work.

    DISHWASHER AEG 80860

Just fixed a similar problem on an AEG F3A by following other advice on this site. Simply tip the machine forwards on to its door (best empty it of crockery first!!!).and then put it upright again when water has stopped dripping out of it. You wil get quite a bit of water on your floor which I reduced by pumping the water out of the salt resevoir first - but if you don't have a pump just have several towels handy

How do i fix error code 30?

AEG Favorit 40850 i30 error - this is the anti-flood error. I did the tipping-over trick, great, but for me, the problem got more and more frequent until the machine would not run. So I took it apart and this is what I found: in the drainage area, next to the water drain, is a sensor. This has been described to me by a dealer as a 'temperature sensor'. I am not sure if this controls the anti-flood system, it may well do, as it is the only one in there. However, the problem is not caused by the sensor itself - around the sensor is a black rubber grommet (seal). In my machine (4 years old) this was badly perished - the rubber had become soft and oily, and about half of it had gone. The sensor itself was covered in oily goo from the grommet. I think that bits of the grommet have been coming off and jamming in the drain, and maybe causing the sensor itself not to work properly. I changed the grommet (£5 part), and it all works great. If you want to do this yourself, follow these instructions:
    • turn off power and uplug dishwasher
    • you need a screwdriver with torx bits
    • put lots of old towels on the floor
    • remove top panel using 2 screws at rear top, then push top backwards and lift off
    • remove front base fascia panel by sliding to left
    • remove right side panel - undo 2 screws at top, one at rear bottom, one at front bottom
    • front edge of side panel is wedged inside white trim - just ease it out, it isn't held in.
    • open dishwasher door and push down fully
    • remove curved front base panel - undo screws right up at the top of the panel, this is a tight fit against the door but you can get in if the door is pushed down fully
    • tip dishwasher over onto left side
    • follow the drain pipe in, this takes you to the drain pump
    • if you want to check the drain pump and pipe, twist the whole pump motor assembly to the left about 15mm - there are 3 tabs that hold it in place, you need to rotate the motor past the tabs, then you can pull it out
    • DO NOT remove the spring clips on the large drain pipe (50mm diameter) between the pump motor and the dishwasher drain - these are very difficult to get back on properly, and once you have taken the pump motor off you can feel right through to the dishwasher drain hole anyway.
    • you can take the spring clip off the white oultet hose if you want - this goes back on easily. Check the outlet pipe with a long drain-clearing spring or similar.
    • about 50mm further towards the front of the machine from the drain hose, going around the drain assembly, is the sensor described above
    • this has wires going into into it, is about 25mm diameter, and you will see the black rubber grommet around it
    • this is held in place with 2 plastic clips, ease these back and pull it out. TAKE CARE not to break these clips.
    • If the grommet is heavily worn or perished, you need a new one. The part number is written on the surface of the grommet.
    • reassemble in reverse order. Before you put the panels back on, and with the power still OFF, tip the dishwasher back upright again, open the door, and pour 1 litre of water in (this will end up on your kitchen floor, so don't put too much in).
    • Check carefully under the machine, with a torch, around the areas where you have been working - the sensor and the drain pipes - to make sure there are no leaks.
    • If it all seems OK, dry the floor, turn the power on and run the dishwasher. MAKE SURE you are standing on dry floor when you do this. Check under the dishwasher again for leaks.
    • Let the dishwasher run a complete cycle. Check for leaks when it is pumping out.
    • If everything seems OK, turn the power off again, put the panels back on, then turn the power back on.
    Good Luck!
