Brush bar will not rotate

Hi there Antoinette, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC44's brush bar won't rotate, it sounds like we may need to talk you though some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine fully charged and easily to hand. This will help us determine if there's an issue with the motorised floor tool itself, or with the wand or main body.

If a replacement part is needed, we should also be able to confirm whether this is covered under our free 2-year parts and labour guarantee.

When convenient, please give the Dyson Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

We'll look forward to speaking with you!

How Do I reset my Dyson DC65

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson upright vacuums, DC65's brush bar is engineered to shut off for protection if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions and removed any threads or hair from the brush bar, you should be able to reset your machine as shown in the video:

There's no physical reset button - the reset mechanism is built into the main on/off and brush control switches. Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when your machine is standing upright, so recline it into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.

If you need any further advice from our experts after giving this a try, you're welcome to contact the Dyson Customer Helpline directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). In the unlikely event that a repair or a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson parts and labour guarantee.

Hi, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC35. If the brush continually rotates when attached to the machine, this sounds like there may be a fault with the main body assembly.

I'm not sure if you've purchased your machine directly from us, but I would encourage you to contact us so we can confirm what may be needed to resolve this situation. You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

DC41 ANIMAL

Hi Ashley, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulty with your DC41 Animal's brush bar. Although I note you've already tried resetting it, I would encourage you to try again - please make sure that you've reclined the machine into the vacuuming position as the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright. Try pressing the silver brush control switch (next to the red on/off switch) twice while the machine is turned on and reclined.

If you do need further help after trying this, please contact us directly so we can confirm if we're able to help under the terms of your DC41 Animal's 5-year warranty. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Best wishes,

My Power head on my Dyson Animal DC39 will not stay spinning. Suction Issue?

There should be a red insert on the right-hand side on the cylindrical bulge behind the brush cylinder. Check that this is moving when you push the button. The red insert should stay pushed in for the brush to rotate. The insert moves in an out as well as rotates in order to lock in the 'in' position. Mine is a little sticky on the rotation and I need to shake the brush head a little in order to get it to rotate and lock.

Dyson DC24 roller bar doesn't work from first try - and this is my second one

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24.

Your machine has two switches on it's upper body - a red on/off switch, and a silver brush control switch. When you press the red on/off switch and recline the machine into the vacuuming position, the brushbar should rotate automatically - you do not need to turn the brushbar on manually every time you use the cleaner. If you want to vacuum a hard floor or a delicate rug, you can turn the brushbar off using the silver brush control switch.

It's important to note that the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position.

If you find that the brushbar will not rotate when you turn the machine on and recline it into the vacuuming position, the brushbar may need resetting. For directions on doing this, please follow the steps shown in the video below. When pressing the reset button in the red recess on the side of the cleaner head, it may help to use something like the eraser-end of a pencil, and to push it in until you hear and feel an audible 'click'.

This should resolve the issue, but if you need any further assistance, please call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MDYSON (US), so we can help you.

Kind regards,

Jack
