The back lighting on this TV is too bright and this is not due to the settings. What may be causing this problem and how can I fix it?

We've taken everything apart and re-seated each connection, all capacitors seem fine, and nothing appears be wrong by visual inspection. The only problem is the brightness(the screen appears heavily washed out when viewing), all other functions are fine. When the TV first starts the Westinghouse logo appears as it should but as soon as the start up screen vanishes the screen appears washed out.

I have a Sylvania 55inch LED 4K TV Model SL551ANU that has sound but no image.

If your Sylvania 55-inch LED 4K TV has sound but no image, it could be due to several reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the connections: Make sure that all the cables connecting your TV to other devices, such as cable boxes or gaming consoles, are properly plugged in and secured. If any cables are loose, reattach them and try turning on the TV again.
  2. Check the input source: Make sure that the TV is set to the correct input source. If you're not sure, cycle through the different input sources using the remote control to see if the image appears on any of them.
  3. Adjust the brightness: Sometimes, the brightness of the TV can be too low, making it appear as if there is no image. Use the remote control to adjust the brightness of the TV and see if the image appears.
  4. Perform a power cycle: Turn off the TV and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on again. This will reset the TV and may fix the issue.
  5. Contact the manufacturer: If none of these steps work, it may be a hardware issue. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician to diagnose and fix the issue.
It's important to note that attempting to fix the TV yourself may void the warranty or cause further damage.

I have a 55 inch TCL TV and the issue is that the right side of the screen turns to a shaded color between black and gray that only happens when I set my tv to the brightness settings of Brighter, bright,...

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot a TV picture that is too dark. Refer to the manual provided with the TV if additional model-specific instructions are needed to perform any of the steps listed.
  1. If Picture mode is set to Cinema or Custom, the screen may become dark. If the screen is still dark after the picture quality mode is changed, change the setting Backlight, Picture, Brightness and adjust the brightness to your taste.
Example of setting method: Check Picture Mode from Settings - Display - Picture and change the setting.NOTE: When a TV is in a store they are set up for Shop Front display settings which are very bright and vivid. However, some Sony TVs may be shipped with more energy-friendly settings to comply with energy savings programs such as the Energy Star. Depending on such settings, the picture brightness level can be higher or lower.
  2. If Power Saving is set to Low or High, the screen becomes dark.
Example of setting method: Select Settings - System Settings - Eco and set Power Saving to Normal or Off, and then check whether the problem is resolved.
  3. Some TVs have Light Sensor feature; the picture will become brighter or lower depending on room lighting conditions.
Turning off the Light Sensor or Automatic Brightness Control (depends on your TV model) may increase picture brightness.
  4. View programming from a different source, such as a DVD player or VCR, to see if the issue is being caused by the device providing the signal to the TV.
NOTE: If the dark picture issue is displayed when viewing from one device only, the dark picture issue is being caused by that device, not the TV. Contact the device manufacturer for additional troubleshooting information.
  5. If it is a projection TV, consider replacing the lamp.
IMPORTANT: The method to replace the lamp differs by model. Refer to the instruction manual for model-specific steps to replace the lamp.

The menu option keeps coming up on my sonia bravia 37 inch .what do i do

This most often is caused by a partially depressed, and stuck, button on either the remote or the set. It occasionally happens due to some water or oil getting into the remote or the button the set, or because of a stray signal coming from a neighbor's place. I had a TV once that the sun streaming through a window activated the channel up on the remote receiver.

It's almost always the oddball thing.

If it's none of these things, you've probably taken a power surge that's damaged the logic board of the set, which require repair/replacement.

Tv does not power on

Do a Hard Reset. Unplug the power cord and cable for 4 hours. If the power protection circuit has taken over the set due to some shorted conditions internally, then the hard reset should allow you to turn it back on but if the condition remains, it will just go into auto off again. This means there is a hardware problem that is locking up the protection circuit. Since there are so many possible areas in the set that can cause this, you will need a service tech to do the hands-on diagnosis for it.

Power surge I think

If you do not get any clicking or sound when trying to turn on the TV set, most likely the main fuse went out. This is almost always due to something else blowing out along or making the fuse to blow out. DO NOT SIMPLY REPLCE THE BLOWN FUSE! If there is other shorts inside the set, and you replace the blown fuse, you can cause more damage to the TV set. The best way to test this set if the fuse is blown would be to hook up a 100 to 150 watt light bulb across the blown fuse, and if there is a short in the TV set the light bulb will glow bright and stay bright. If the bulb lights up and goes dim maybe just maybe you got luck so replace the fuse and see what happens. If the light bulkb stays bright, there is a short in the set somewhere and if you do not have a service manual and a good multimeter and a knowledge of how the TV power supply works, you really should call in a pro to assist you in the repair of this TV. there is just too much High Voltage inside these TV sets to be experieenting around inside of it. Good Luck.
