I had a smililar problem after taking it apart i realised that i had screwed my mount skrews into the video main board and cracked it along with a few soldered wires, if you havent done any physical dammage to it try a firmware upgrade

This could be one of two problems I have seen with another model Infocus projector (they are very good projectors though)
The first is the video input. Make sure it is attached correctly at both ends of the cable.
The second, remove the dust covers and blow them out. The problem can arrise if the temperature sensor detects the air inside the unit is getting too hot. If you can see the sensor when the dust covers are off (it will look like a little lump of goo on the end of a wire) then just give it a wipe as well. If dust settles on those it can cause incorrect temps to be reported.
Hope that solves your poblem =)
SOURCE: IN72 Projector problem
My understanding when we purchased our IN72 2 years ago is that there wasn't any additional benefit for Cable box using HDMI since the IN72 does not transmit audio so using component cables for cable was optimized enough. We have our DVD player connected via the HDMI only. Possibly the transmission from cable box through an HDMI is not compatible audio is confusing it? hard to say. Cable HD channels look awesome thru the compenent cables, the max for IN72 is 480i anyway.
We've got 35 ft cables for all 3 hdmi, compenent, and that vcr one too and it's worked great.
