How do I take the plunge base off my dewalt 618

Undo the main housing to access the connections. Note each screw's placement as some may be smaller than others.

Make a quich search on google. I found several links where you can download the manual.

I HAVE THE SAME PROB WITH ALL THE STATIC , %50 OF THE MEETER MOST OF THE TIME, HARD TO HERE EVEN LOAD STATIONS, CAN ANY ONE EXPLAIN , IT IS ONLY ON THE 618 , NOT MY PRESIDENT ,,

Its the compressor... not enough pressure.

Usually the guard sticks due to dirt ... clean the entire mechanism and lub with a dry lubricant (graphite or similar) Check for screws that may be too loose or to tight.

You are right, this saw is dangerous ... dont use it until you have it repaired (by you or the DeWalt Service Center near you).

The plunge base is spring loaded. When you move the lever is springs to the up position. To lower it place the base on a flat surface, press and hold the lever down and push down on the handles. The router bit height should be set on the depth rod with the base in the down position. Then release it to the up position. When you have positioned the bit where you want it on the work piece, press the lever and "plunge" the bit down into the workpiece. The depth rod setting will stop the bit at the depth you set it for.

Yes, it is the black handles / knobs.

Rotate them clockwise to lock the plunge, anti-clockwise to unlock.

You can try to adjust the lever that moves the plunge and see if that helps, but a plunge router isn't made for upside use. If you have the option and use the router upside down often, you may want to get a fixed base.
