Ryobi makes a neet little fuel line kit for these , and its inexpensive too , it contains a new fuel filter (and tool for installing it) a new primer bulb (change it anyway) and enough of two different fuel line to reach your trimmer's carb , I stock a few of these here and you can buy ne from any roybi dealer , the only tool you need besides your fingers are a pair of scissors and a Phillips screwdriver for taking off the air cleaner to gain access to lines

It is possible that the timing gear jumped a tooth. Take off valve cover and check to make sure timing marks line up. Other than that check other things like carb adjustment, good gas, air filter and other general tune up things.

I think the model your speaking of is the RBC30. It is a 2 stroke mixture. The 430 models are 4 stroke and do not require mixing oil and fuel. They are made by Ryobi for Makita.

The long bolt coming down at the end shaft like place reel over bolt then turn back and forth slowly while pushing upward and it should lock in and take knob or bolt at end and tighten to the right.

I have a ryobi doule line bought in 1997..Had same problem put new gas cap on and problem solved..could not get air in....

Petrol lines disintegrate when fuel is stored in the trimmer for long periods of time. These can be obtained from any small tool repair store. Just remove them and install new ones. They just slip through the holes in the tank, re-attach the fuel filter on the supply line. Make sure that the line is long enough so that the filter rests on the back/bottom corner of the tank. Be sure that the lines are attached to the proper ports on the carb>

You just pull it off. It takes a lot of force. When re-installing the spool, be sure that the line is inserted in the exit hole and the line is wound in the right direction.

To install string in the Ryobi you do not have to disassemble anything: Line up the two arrows on the inner and outer reel, remove any excess string, cut two pieces of string about 10 feet, feed line in the side holes, secure line in hole where it comes out the bottom (it only takes about 1/4in. to do so), pull strings tight, then turn the inner reel counter clockwise to wind it. If it sticks a little just pull line a little.
To remove the inner spool in order to remove line that has broken inside, to clean the mechanism, or to perform other maintenance, grasp the outer reel and unscrew the bump knob counter-clockwise. Mine is often very tight and requires pliers to get enough leverage. While you are in there, clean the inner reel and the inside of the outer reel to improve feed performance. The shaft rarely needs cleaning. Do not lubricate. After re-installing the reel, add string (0.080") as described above.
