I am sure that this is a result of a clog. You may have to dismantle a bit to get to it. I have done this several times with other vacuums.

If your DC35 isn't picking up, this could be due to a couple of reasons. The filter needs washing at least once a month using cold water without detergent. It should then be allowed to air-dry completely for at least 24 hours. If this hasn't been done recently, this would be the first thing to try, as shown in our video guide:
If you're still having difficulty after washing the filter, it's possible there is a blockage in the motorised floor tool, wand or bin inlet. If this is the case we're happy to help you locate and remove this to restore full performance.
